National Constitution Center is Hiring a Remote Town Hall Programs Manager

BACKGROUND

The National Constitution Center is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization devoted to teaching about the Constitution. Located on Philadelphia’s historic Independence Mall, steps from where the Constitution was drafted and signed, it serves as America’s leading platform for constitutional education and debate, fulfilling its congressional charter “to disseminate information about the U.S. Constitution on a nonpartisan basis in order to increase awareness and understanding of the Constitution among the American people.”

POSITION SUMMARY

As America’s Town Hall, the National Constitution Center brings together thought leaders, scholars, and experts from across the political spectrum to discuss historical and current constitutional issues at the heart of American life through a series of public programs hosted online, onsite, and across the nation. The primary role of the Town Hall Programs Manager is to coordinate the many moving parts involved in executing these programs, and to serve as a representative of the Center via program-related communications with key constituents. The Town Hall Programs Manager plays a crucial role in presenting programs at the highest level to help ensure the best experience for the Center’s distinguished speakers, Members, donors, and other audiences to fulfill its mission of educating about the U.S. Constitution on a nonpartisan basis.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Town Hall Programs, the Town Hall Programs Manager works across departments to manage all logistical aspects of the Center’s America’s Town Hall program series and serves as a key liaison between the Center and high-profile speakers. This position also works with the Content team to brainstorm program topics and participants, and assists in drafting Town Hall preparation materials for the Center’s President and CEO. Additionally, this position supports the Senior Director of Town Hall Programs with some administrative duties.

This position is based in Philadelphia with flexible remote work opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Event Management: Plan, organize, and manage all logistical aspects of online, onsite, and traveling Town Hall programs, including creating webinars in Zoom; building registration pages; confirming AV, setup, staffing, and catering needs with internal and external parties; arranging travel and hotel; and day-of execution.
  • Speaker Contact: Serve as a direct representative of the Center to confirmed speakers ensuring they have everything required to feel comfortable day-of by creating and sharing event itineraries, collecting speaker materials, arranging travel/hotel, coordinating preparation meetings and materials, and serving as the primary point of contact during planning and day-of.
  • Event Promotion: Build and send eblasts to grow Town Hall attendance and engagement, execute outreach for individual programs, track attendance, and collaborate with the Communications team to ensure cohesion across promotional efforts.
  • Writing and Research: Assist in drafting preparation materials and program remarks for Center President and CEO.
  • Reporting: Track metrics and create seasonal reports highlighting the overall success of Town Hall programs and key takeaways.
  • Customer Service: Manage Town Hall customer service systems, including calls from program attendees and email inbox.
  • Program Development: Research and track forthcoming books on topics and by authors relevant to the Center’s mission, staying up to date on the latest in historical, political and constitutional scholarship. Collaborate with content team to brainstorm speaker and new program ideas.
  • Administrative: Update Town Hall budget ledgers with expenses, create purchase orders, and submit invoices for payment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 years of prior experience in executive support roles and/or managing events and meetings required
  • Knowledge of and interest in the U.S. Constitution, U.S. government and history, and constitutional issues required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; degree in political science, law, American history, or related field preferred
  • High proficiency and skills in Microsoft Office and Zoom
  • Experience in Altru and Constant Contact is a plus
  • Ability to work weekends, evening hours, or holidays as needed and assigned
  • Ability to travel as needed and assigned
