We assist state courts and licensing authorities with fulfilling their responsibility to determine minimal competence for entry to the legal profession.

The Investigative Analyst conducts character and fitness background investigations on behalf of jurisdictions for applicants seeking a license to practice law. A successful candidate must have strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze and interpret case files that have varying requirements, deadlines, and processing times for participating jurisdictions. The Investigative Analyst works both independently and as part of a team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages a caseload of 25 character and fitness investigation files per week for assigned jurisdictions.
  • Accurately and efficiently processes and closes files in accordance with departmental guidelines/timelines and varying jurisdiction requirements.
  • Communicates with applicants and outside agencies via written correspondence, email, and telephone. Outside agencies may include schools, employers, courts, etc., identified on an applicant's file. Communication must be professional, clear, and concise.
  • Identifies and follows up with the applicant on discrepancies and omissions within the file.
  • Reports updated contact information for outside agencies to Senior Analyst or supervisor.
  • Creates quality reports to return to the jurisdictions.
  • Various duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Strong organizational, writing, time management, and communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in an office setting preferred.

The Investigative Analyst position may be eligible for remote work after successful completion of a training/probationary period.
