PLC Programmer ACADE Controls Designer, Level 1

SUMMARY

As a Level 1 PLC and ACADE Controls Designer for National Bulk Equipment, Inc. This individual will be directly involved in the development, design and implementation of the control systems and automation for the bulk material handling equipment and integrated systems designed, engineered, built, and installed by NBE. This individual must be able to simultaneously manage multiple programming projects of varied complexity and duration. This individual will report directly to the manager of control systems engineering department. This position is based in Holland, Michigan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Must have three years of experience with Allen-Bradley® family of PLC’s.

· Must have three years of experience with ACADE doing controls system design.

· Must be able to write a PLC program from scratch using all or some of the following documentation. Sequence of operation, Order Acknowledge write up, ACADE wiring diagram, P&ID diagram.

· Must be able to read code written by others and modify others’ code as necessary.

· Able to design electrical controls system for automated equipment.

· Capable of installing peripheral devices, setting them up for proper operation.

· PLC programming software experience with other than Allen-Bradley software may be considered; i.e., Siemens, Automation Direct, Modicon, depending on relevance and experience level.

· Must have a good understanding of AC/DC electrical systems.

· Must be able to read and interpret ACAD electrical drawings.

· Must have minimum combined amount of three years’ experience with Allen-Bradley® MicroLogix™ and/or ControlLogix® or CompactLogix™ control systems.

· Must have proficiency in Microsoft® Word, Excel, and Outlook®.

· Must be willing to travel overnight and weekends as requested.

· Customer site travel average is normally 30%.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

· Experience with different PLC’s programming software.

· Other manufactures HMI programming software.

· Understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC®) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA®) code.

· Knowledge and or understanding of classified areas.

· Ability to understand pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams.

· A relevant degree or license in the electrical field.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A relevant degree or license in the electrical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public..

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as vector analysis, exponents, logarithms quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
