Hours for this position are 7:30 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday, Saturdays as needed.

Food Safety Center Media Prep Technician responsibilities include but are not limited to:

The media prep technician responsible for the following key jobs that are designed to assist and support the Lab functions.

• Follow instructions on project methodology from laboratory management staff

• Ensure correctness and accuracy of information presented to Food Safety Center on samples

• Print and fill out all required work orders for samples received during shift

• Prepare culture media following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and established protocols

• Perform pH and/or sterility checks on prepared media

• Document and report any deviations or inconsistencies in media preparation

• Autoclave media and other supplies to ensure sterility

• Follow all policies, procedures, and protocols as approved by upper management for sample setup

• Check completed paperwork for accuracy and as a part of the dual check program will check other technicians work before turning it in

• Assist with the daily monitoring of temperature accuracy and records all temperatures for incubators, refrigerators, and freezers on log sheets

• Inspect received supplies and makes note of condition, available lot numbers, and available expiration dates in appropriate logbook

• Direct all questions concerning reports to a member of laboratory management staff

• Properly implement all procedure modifications as outlines by laboratory management staff

• Maintain adequate levels of testing supplies

• Complete supply re-order log for need supplies

• Ensure specified daily housekeeping duties are performed

• Maintain accurate records for quality system traceability

• Assist laboratory technicians in day-to-day duties when time permits or when needed

• Complete environmental quality assurance checks

• Perform and complete any other duties assigned by the FSCML management

This is a safety sensitive position. This position is an on-site position.

Qualified Candidates for the Food Safety Center Media Prep Technician should possess the following:

• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent

• Knowledge on computers and tablets

• Prior experience in lab is a plus

• Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
