The Part-Time Administrative Assistant will provide essential administrative support to ensure the efficient functioning of the Maryland Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). This role involves assisting with office operations, member services, and event coordination.

Job Description:
The Membership and Engagement Manager will play a pivotal role in advancing the objectives and mission of the Maryland Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). This position focuses on leading efforts to cultivate and nurture relationships with key stakeholders (board members, members, Maryland social work schools, community organizations, and other associations) through marketing, communications, operation streamlining, data and social media management, event coordination, and other engagement activities.

Responsibilities:

Membership

  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, serves as a liaison to engage communication with the Board of Directors, members, and the public.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase membership engagement, retention, and acquisition.
  • Utilize programs such as google docs and Adobe Acrobat Pro to streamline chapter processes/procedures.
  • Manage and stay abreast with local, states, and national NASW membership benefits and changes.
  • Cultivate relationships with current and potential members through various communication channels.
  • Other duties are required.

Engagement

  • Coordinate membership events, workshops, and networking opportunities.
  • Attend monthly virtual membership meeting hosted by Membership Director through national NASW
  • Represent the chapter at relevant meetings, events, and coalitions to advocate for social work issues.
  • Monitor legislative and policy developments affecting social work and advocate for policies that promote social justice and well-being.
  • Establish relationships and build engagement between chapter and schools of social work throughout Maryland
  • Other duties as required

Marketing

  • Creates and implements plans to promote Professional Development programs through all appropriate channels (website, e-newsletters, member magazine, promotional content, email, social media, and other communications et al)
  • Report data related to engagement including events, surveys, participation, social media, membership, and chapter communications to inform decision-making.
  • Write articles for The Maryland Social Worker Newspaper and participate in content meetings as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, management, or administration or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Previous experience in membership management, advocacy, or community organizing.
  • Strong understanding of social work principles, ethics, and policies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and organizations.
  • Knowledge of legislative processes and advocacy strategies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Canva, Buffer, Facebook Business Suite, Google Docs, Constant Contact and familiarity with CRM software.

Pay Range:
This is a hybrid part-time position for 22.5 hours/week. The pay range for the Membership and Engagement Manager position at the Maryland Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers range starts at $25 an hour and is based on experience and qualifications. This position requires time to be worked during core business hours of 7:30am-6:30pm. Some evenings and weekends are required for specialized meetings, conferences and events.
