National Able Network is Hiring a Lead Career Coach (WIOA) Near Des Moines, IA

National Able Network National Able Network, a dynamic and growing nonprofit agency specializing in the delivery of innovative employment and training programs recently acquired a new grant in Iowa and has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Career Coach to start effective 7/1/2024.

The Lead Career Coach works with management and team to deliver employment services including oversight of supportive services, identifying opportunities to increase program accessibility and addressing equity goals. Responsible for scheduling and tracking data (cleanup and validation); will work with clients to assess barriers to employment and employment goals and determine training and supportive services, in addition to referring to outside agencies for other services (as appropriate); will provide job search assistance, which may include working with local companies to identify employment leads and supporting employment with retention services to clients/participants. The Lead Career Coach will coordinate with outside agencies to ensure consistent flow of services and benefits and maintain accurate, timely and complete documentation for all clients on a monthly basis. May work on special projects at any point throughout the program year.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with management to identify opportunities to increase program accessibility and address equity goals.
  • Assists management with ongoing career coach development and identify areas for ongoing development and/or training.
  • Oversees the supportive services process (i.e. logging, balancing and consistency of communications) and maintains and submits signature logs to finance.
  • Assists management with conducting rapid response, re-employment workshops and other partner related workshop/outreach sessions.
  • Works with management to schedule and track data cleanup and validation, in addition to working on other special projects at key points during the program year.
  • Oversees & schedules workshops at assigned locations.
  • Attends workshops and or seminars relevant to serving program clients/participants. Incorporates strategies learned to improve future service delivery.
  • Communicates with partner agencies and oversees/assigns partner referrals.
  • Assesses, manages and maintains a caseload of 30-40 (may include clients with higher barriers to employment) as well as carryover clients.
  • Tracks clients’ progress in training and job search activities on a regular basis as required. Case notes all interactions with clients.
  • Interviews and administers appropriate testing to assess client job readiness needs, career interests and barriers to employment. Develops an Individual Employment Plan (IEP) and action steps for achieving IEP goals. Monitors progress to goals, modifies and updates IEP as necessary.
  • Advises clients on all social supportive services for which they are eligible; may refer clients with special needs to internal staff and/or external resources as appropriate.
  • Researches and identifies potential employers regarding job opportunities aligned with client caseload needs; utilizes both internal and external job boards and interfaces with administrative personnel to ensure the internal job board is updated; participates in on-site job fairs and mass interviewing/hiring activities; participates on job search work teams and job clubs; may facilitate job clubs independently or with business development team.
  • Assesses, maintains and submits accurate, timely and complete case notes, documentation, and data for government mandated case noting systems as well as the Agency’s internal reporting systems, regarding clients including: all interactions, training, supportive services, job search, job placement programs, exit/termination and follow-up activities; complies with all reporting guidelines specified by funding agency.
  • Researches, evaluates, and maintains partnerships with training providers for both vocational and remedial training. Processes required documentation for various training enrollment and completion.
  • Reviews documents for accuracy and compliance; acts as liaison for client with internal personnel or on-site agencies and external service providers during all phases of training, placement, and retention, in order to ensure consistent flow of benefits and services.
  • Conducts ongoing post-placement retention and follow up efforts.
  • May coordinate and/or lead in outreach efforts; recruits participants in job and resource fairs; presents at events and orientations with partner agencies; may facilitate OJT sessions.
  • Uses social media, website, and email and other marketing efforts to identify and solicit companies with job openings for clients/participants; coordinates intensive job lead searches and candidate referrals to companies for clients; coordinates hiring events for clients/participants; maintains database of companies and partners.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Sets a positive example for other career coaches and provides best-in-class services to program participants.
  • May train, mentor and provide support to new or junior career coaches.
  • Fully familiarized with the job readiness curriculum and ensure that each program registrant successfully completes job readiness training.
  • Ability to manage a heavy caseload and extensive volume of paperwork in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment; may manage multiple tasks and projects on a regular basis.
  • Experienced professional having wide ranging experience with multiple employment database software and operating systems to document and record client activities.
  • Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
  • Drives consistent application of established process, reliable follow- through and assesses work for accuracy and quality.
  • Works on a variety of problems of moderately complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of variety of factors and provides recommendations and/or solutions.
  • Strong service-orientation and interpersonal skills; develops rapport and works successfully with a diverse population of clients, co-workers, potential employers, and other external agencies.

Minimum qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience in social services, counseling, job development or related field with an employment focus.
  • Must be able to travel seminars/workshops and other National Able Network offices when necessary.
