The Assistant Manager provides daily leadership by working collaboratively with the General Manager to oversee the day-to-day business operation. A person in this position focuses on sales, improving market penetration, and providing superior customer service.

As a NAPA Auto Parts Store Assistant Manager, you have the opportunity to manage all aspects of a store for a fast paced leader in the automotive parts industry. Build your high performing team, infuse store sales and performance, and enjoy your success as a Store Assistant Manager!

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Possess personal drive, self-motivation and initiative to accomplish Company goals and objectives.
  • Monitor store sales performance on a daily basis
  • Identify new customers and revenue opportunity for the store and execute the plan to take advantage of the opportunities
  • Build a store team and consistently delivers high levels of customer service and business results
  • Manage day-to-day store operations
  • Plan workloads and assign work schedules on a daily/weekly basis
  • Be willing and available to cover shifts of team members who are absent
  • Maintain a safe work environment including vehicles for all employees
  • Demonstrate a positive, helpful attitude as well as professional conduct and appearance at all times
  • Maximizes sales by helping customers select and purchase merchandise, while following all company standards, policies and procedures
  • Understand, interpret, and comply with Company policies
  • Use company training materials and resources to help develop employees.
  • Help create and sustain a workplace that is respectful of the individual and builds teamwork.
  • Manages store team by overseeing the sales floor and delivery area
  • Assistant Store Managers partner with the General Manager, Territory Sales Manager, and store team to implement all corporate and store programs, practices and policies
  • Works with store staff to follow store merchandising standards and restock merchandise as well as optimize the appearance of the storefront
  • Develops and implements productivity improvements and efficiencies
  • Responsible for adhering to the stores budget per the General Manager
  • The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the store assets including cash, inventory, vehicles, and fixtures.
  • Plan, direct, coordinate and execute the development, assessment, implementation and tracking of all store and growth initiatives
  • Ensure key processes are in place through staff evaluations and data analysis
  • Instill a sense of urgency within the team to increase sales and improve customer service
  • Utilize your expertise in providing sound advice, coaching and assistance to store team and monitor all aspects of operations
  • Work with the General Manager to communicate the company's expectations and culture through actions, verbal instructions and in writing to new and existing team members
  • Emphasize a professional appearance and image at every level
  • Work closely with General Manager on productivity improvements and forecast staffing needs
  • Promote efficiency to maximize store profitability
  • Resolve any customer and /or team member issues in a timely professional manner
  • Ensure retail sales area and displays are merchandised effectively
  • Assist with processing returns, cores, and RGNs
  • Must use the non-company approved line codes appropriately.
  • Barcodes inventory and places in appropriate bin locations.
  • Other Duties: Assist General Manager in necessary duties as assigned

About You:

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • High School Degree or equivalent; college degree in business administration preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a retail environment, ideally in a supervisory role. Automotive after-market service industry preferred.
  • Customer service-oriented with in-depth knowledge of basic business management processes.
  • Strong supervisory, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and use customer fleet management software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and using the internet for parts research and sourcing.
  • Capable of operating a point-of-sale system and cataloging.
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age or older.
  • Occasionally required to drive on behalf of the company; must possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license.
  • Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 60 pounds.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Sound decision making ability
  • Must be promotable to Store Manager
  • Ability to stand and walk for the entire work shift
  • Capable of moving merchandise of up to 60 pounds
  • Ability to move heavy equipment using moving aids
  • Ability to speak clearly and listen attentively.
