NANOTRONICS IMAGING INC is Hiring an Optical Engineer Near Brooklyn, NY

Description

The Nanotronics Optical Engineer - is a smart and passionate engineer who will work with our product, engineering, and applied research team in the development of the world's most technologically advanced inspection and factory control solutions. The person in this position is a specialist in the field of optics and will be responsible for all aspects of research in the relevant field, including machine learning techniques, integration, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. 

The solutions we build push the envelope of what can be done, so we need engineers who are highly intelligent, hardworking, and creative. Flexibility and an ability to grasp high order concepts in physics, control theory, hardware design, automation, and robotics can be helpful for understanding and resolving specific issues. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, who works well within a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • PhD in Physics or a related field
  • Direct project work with optical systems 
  • Direct project work with novel microscopy systems 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with computer vision and machine learning
  • Extensive experience with optical design and assembly
  • Extensive experience with computational signal and image processing
  • Experience with fluorescent microscopy
  • Experience with super-resolution and related literature and techniques
  • Experience and hands-on work with optical prototyping and design
  • Advanced understanding of atomic and optical physics
  • Experience creating clean, elegant code

Key Responsibilities

  • Optical design and assembly of computational super resolution microscopes
  • Development of optical super-resolution techniques, software, and hardware
  • Design, implementation and testing of complex microscope systems (fluorescent, photo-luminescence applications)
  • Design of integrated microscopes with AI functionality 
  • Explore fluorescent super-resolution techniques in non-biological applications
  • Develop and validate image pre-processing routines for quantitative fluorescent microscopy. Incorporation of machine learning techniques to image processing and analysis 
  • Participate in creating research protocols for optical microscopy
  • Create IP, white papers and scientific publications in the relevant field
  • Integrate products into Nanotronics core products when required
  • Other research and development needs in the relevant field as they arise

Salary Range: $150-180k per year
