Job Description

Cleans & sprays surfaces of manufactured products with cleaning and protective or decorative material such as paint, enamel, glaze, gel-coat, or lacquer by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

Cleans grease and dirt from products.

Removes rust from metal surfaces with blasting agents.

Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated.

Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface.

Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color.

Pours coating liquid into spray container and connects gun to air hose.

Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray.

Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat.

Coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer with brush or other means.

Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent.

Immediately report all Incidents / Accidents, no matter how small, to their Supervisor.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalent or ten (10) years’ experience will be considered.

Minimum one (1) year directly related experience.

Alaska Painters Certification required.

Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy preferred.

The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. Steel toed boots required on the job.

Travel may require an employee or contractor to pass a TSA security checkpoint. If the employee or contractor does not have valid identification, they will not be able to travel until valid identification is obtained and verified.

For this reason all Red Dog employees and contractors must have valid identification when traveling to and from the mine, for a list of TSA approved valid identification visit / travel / security-screening / identification .
