Nailor Industries is Hiring an Electrical Engineer / Control Panel Designer Near Houston, TX
Thermal Corporation, a division of Nailor International, Inc., is seeking a Electrical Engineer / Control Panel Designer based in Houston, TX. This role will be responsible for the design, selection and and development of detail drawings for motor control panels for package HVAC systems, under UL1995. The Electrical Engineer follows codes, regulations, standard industry practices and internal design guidelines to take general arrangement drawings and equipment schedules and develop detailed wiring diagrams and panel layout drawings in support of manufacturing and assembly. The Electrical Engineer will work alongside the Mechanical Design Team, the Controls Designer, Electrical Draftsman, Electrical Production Lead and other members of the Electrical/Controls team. This is a technical position and will be office-based at the company headquarters and manufacturing facility.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Take lead role in the design of motor control panels and wiring diagrams for Air Handling Units and associated equipment including fan arrays, electric heaters, lighting, convenience outlets, instrumentation and controls.
Review and evaluation of design intent and conceptual development of electrical component configuration and layout associated with custom applications.
Selection and sizing of electrical components and creation of electrical Bill of Materials.
Maintenance of project design files including drawings, wiring diagrams, calculations (FLA, MCA, MOP, SCCR), documentation and certification.
Prepare detailed layout and design drawings using AutoCAD or Solid Edge software.
Lead the Electrical Team in providing cost-effective solutions in compliance with current regulations, codes and practices.
Identify, communicate and implement continuous improvement efforts for products and processes.
Required Knowledge and Skills
MUST have experience in design of panels for packaged equipment.
MUST have experience with 3 phase electrical fundamentals.
MUST have full working knowledge of applicable electrical codes including NEC/NFPA-70E, UL-508, UL-50 as well as experience with UBC and OSHA. Familiarity with UL-1995 and NFPA-90 is a plus.
Experience with motor control panels, MCC, MOP, and components including enclosures, disconnects, breakers, fuses, busses, wire types, motor starters, motor protection devices and variable speed drives.
Ability to understand and interpret technical documents and diagrams including work instructions, P&IDs, control diagrams, manuals, specifications, blueprints and schematics.
Proficient in AutoCAD. Experience with Solid Edge is a plus.
Must be detail-oriented and decisive, and willing to work in team environment.
Self-initiative and ability to organize, multitask and meet multiple deadlines.
Provide electrical support to Customers in the field, via phone or occasional site travel.
Strong verbal and written skills in English language.
Education and Experience
MUST have Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
MUST have a minimum 3 years of experience with design and/or manufacture of electrical control panels.
Manufacturing or Panel Shop experience is a plus.
