NACOG is Hiring a Head Start Practice Based Coach, Yavapai County Near Yavapai, AZ

$25.64/hr, 40 hrs/wk, 41 wks/yr

Summary

In compliance with Federal Law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Working under administrative supervision and with moderate difficulty this position is responsible for providing instruction to Head Start staff in strengthening teaching practices for the delivery of high quality education services to children from birth to five years of age. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collects and analyzes data for the purpose of assessing the professional development needs of Head Start Center staff and identifying areas for strengthening teaching practices
  • Creates staff needs assessments, assists staff in goal setting, and identifies resources for the purpose of implementing specific teaching practices that encourage classroom quality and consistency across the agency
  • Coaches Head Start staff in implementing specific teaching practices, using research-based and practice-based coaching models, to improve classroom quality and child learning outcomes
  • Monitors classroom services and evaluates the effectiveness of classroom services to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations
  • Facilitates Professional Learning Communities (PLC) that encourages staff development of teaching practices in a collaborative setting that encourages staff networking and consistency and builds higher quality and stronger child outcomes
  • Plans, coordinates, and facilitates meetings and trainings to ensure timely and tailored coaching support for each site
  • Documents the process of practice based coaching and the progress of classroom staff, supporting the success of the Program Information Report required at the federal level
  • Develops and maintains schedules for weekly on-site visitations to ensure the fidelity of the coaching model and to support the professional development needs of staff

Other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or other related field of study; and 5 years’ experience in a Head Start or Early Head Start classroom; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Physical Activity: Frequent standing, listening, talking, walking, sitting.

Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amounts of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting most of the time.

Visual requirements: Close visual acuity for compiling and analyzing data; viewing a computer screen; and reading.

Working conditions: Regular exposure to infectious disease; occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions.
