POSITION TITLE:Campaigns Volunteer & Programs Coordinator

SUPERVISOR:Vice President of Campaigns

LOCATION: Washington, DC/Remote

TRAVEL:  Moderate

POSITION SUMMARY

The Campaigns Volunteer Program Coordinator will report to the Vice President of Campaigns and work with the National Campaigns Director and National Mobilization on various projects supporting our national, state, and local mobilizations and campaigns.

The position is responsible for supporting the Campaigns Department in implementing NAACP priority and electoral campaigns through mobilization efforts and expanding the NAACP field volunteer program. The Volunteer Program Coordinator will also help facilitate direct voter contact programs, including voter registration and other forms of direct voter contact programs (Relational Organizing, Volunteer Recruitment & GOTV).

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Support team workflow regarding program coordination and volunteer engagement at the local and national levels;
  • Supports the Vice President of Campaigns with special project deadlines and inter-departmental projects;
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the team on stewardship projects and/or special events as appropriate, especially relating to volunteer engagement;
  • Support the Campaigns Program Manager and Mobilization Program Manager in designing and standardizing best practices for data management using the organization’s voter file software (NAACP VAN), Vote.Org, SMS/Text Platforms, and other technologies for mobilization and program efforts across NAACP Units & partners;
  • Draft memos, letters, proposals, and reports in connection with primary responsibilities as directed for the team;
  • Manage all aspects of scheduling and preparing for both internal and external meetings (i.e., team meetings, donor visits, etc.);
  • Prepare materials and agendas, take meeting notes, arrange for catering, and distribute materials for follow-up;
  • Maintain a small portfolio of special projects connected to volunteer engagement, volunteer recruitment, and mobilization/activation training; and 
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as designated by the Campaigns Department.

QUALIFICATIONS 

The ideal candidate for this position will possess many, if not all, of the following professional qualifications, competencies, and personal qualities:

  • Minimum high school Diploma and/or a 2-year Degree or Certificate in Project Management or equivalent preferred;
  • Minimum of three to five years experience in program/project management or related field; experience in non-profit, policy, advocacy, or other civil rights organizations preferred;
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experience in working with internal and external stakeholders, partners, and volunteers;
  • Works diligently during periods of high-volume departmental activity;
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn to improve productivity and output;
  • Work effectively both independently as well as in a team-oriented, collaborative, and collegial environment; and
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook, and related Project Management Software.
