The area is home to Cal Poly Humboldt (formerly HSU) and College of the Redwoods for a younger feel that keeps music/art/entertainment alive. Outdoor enthusiasts will find easy access to their interests: surfing (see Dr. Robinson), cycling (see Dr. Richardson), backpacking/hiking (see Dr. Prado), horseback riding (see Dr. Ninekirk), all local events (see Dr. Tatro), ocean adventures, fishing, river/lake easy access, birding, and mushroom foraging.

We have a farmers market every Saturday that is quite the to-do if you enjoy keeping it local, acro/yoga, hula hooping and live music. Arts Alive monthly, and a Friday Night Market (outdoor street closed streets festival) weekly late spring through fall. Popular tourist destinations in the county include: Avenue of the Giants (very big trees), Redwood National Park (elk!), Trinidad.
