The Optometrist (OD) position is performed in a traditional, full-scope office environment and may require local travel, on a same day basis, within MyEyeDr. regions. At this well-established but growing practice, you will have the opportunity to practice general and medical optometry, with a consistent patient base and at a comfortable pace keeping the quality of patient care as a priority. Every MyEyeDr. practice is equipped with the latest in vision care technology and stocked with a wide selection of quality eyewear.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Optometrist to join our team in our brand new location opening in September 2024. As an Optometrist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye care services to patients. This includes conducting eye exams, diagnosing and treating visual impairments and eye diseases, prescribing corrective lenses, and educating patients on proper eye care.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive eye exams to assess visual acuity, refractive errors, and overall eye health
- Diagnose and treat various eye conditions and diseases, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration
- Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids to correct vision problems
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices and preventive measures
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records of patient examinations and treatments
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in optometry practices and technologies
Experience:
- Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited optometry school
- Valid state license to practice optometry
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology, anatomy, physiology, and medical coding
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems (Epic preferred)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical terms to patients
- Strong sales skills to effectively recommend eyewear options to patients
- Experience working with senior care patients is a plus
