Job Summary:

The Clinical Supervisor assists the Behavioral Health Clinical Director with oversight of casework, clinical documentation, and professional issues of therapy providers. This role ensures consistency and accountability across CHN’s multiple behavioral health locations. The Clinical Supervisor will work closely with the Team Lead to provide regular structured meetings with staff to assist with training, evaluation, and motivation to keep the clinical team driving patient care. Primarily this position will operate administratively to ensure BH staff training is up to date and chart documentation is current and in compliance. Clinical Supervisor: The Clinical Supervisor is a fully licensed Behavioral Health Clinician with demonstrated clinical administrative manager skills, therapy experience and excellent patient care experience. The Clinical Supervisor provides regular direct clinical care, while also supervising behavioral health clinicians under the supervision and oversight of the Clinical Director. Clinical Supervisor is dedicated to the Center’s mission to provide health care to all people without prejudice, in a caring manner, regardless of their ability to pay. The position will be responsible for performing duties as a licensed therapist and clinical administrative manager with oversight of clinical documentation.

Also, the behavioral health program has integrated components including psychiatry, chemical dependency and addiction services, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), co-occurring disorders, and care coordination. Persons exceptional in this position will have a strong understanding of these domains and will be able to provide leadership support towards incorporating these domains into the patient centered care plans as appropriate through whole person care. The ‘Quadruple Aim’ of great patient care and improved population health within an efficient cost structure, while improving the work life of providers and staff. This individual is responsible for supervisory and administrative practices, clinical evaluation, role optimization, advocacy and education related to Behavioral Health practice and professional development, as well as direct service with patients in the whole person care model.

Clinical Supervisor must demonstrate positive leadership and collaborative decision-making skills. They must be organized, knowledgeable and excellent communicators. The role will have regular meetings with the Leadership team. This role is to support and review the clinical care of behavioral health providers by reviewing Value-Based, Population-Based, Quality and Productivity reports, ensuring the support staff comply with CHN Standards of Care, accuracy, and quality of clinical documentation. The role will also support business development of the behavioral health program and is a key stakeholder in the advancement of behavioral health clinical operations. Additionally, Clinical Supervisor assists with conducting peer review, providing individual performance evaluations, and clinical process enhancements. The Clinical Supervisor also carries a caseload responsible for the provision of behavioral healthcare for clients of all ages. The position collaborates with primary health care providers, specialists, psychiatrists, chemical dependency programs and providers, other healthcare professionals, and community resources. This position will provide screenings, assessments, treatments, individual and group therapy. The behavioral health therapist is committed to ensuring a positive patient experience and will work with the patient to establish measurable outcomes reflecting the patient’s desired goals. Position follows patient centered medical home (PCMH) guidelines and principles.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists Team Lead in the oversight of clinical peer review with feedback and interventions based on findings
  • Track and monitor BH staff trainings to ensure staff are current on required trainings of HHSC and compliance with CARF requirements
  • Assists Behavioral Health Clinical Director in the development of evidence-based standards of care based on a person-centered approach to whole person care
  • Assists Behavioral Health Clinical Director for staffing of clinical case review including crisis, substance use, and/or incident management
  • Assists Behavioral Health Clinical Director with team communications via structured meetings, Microsoft Teams chat, and other methods of communication while maintaining consistency of information
  • Assist Team Lead with Weekly Huddle meetings
  • This role may provide oversight to peer support specialists, qualified mental health professionals, LPC students or associates, and other non-licensed or conditionally licensed individuals as assigned
  • This role will provide a supportive role in the development of a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) and accreditation standards of CARF
  • Applies advanced specialty knowledge, clinical skills, and expertise to assess patients and develop a list of actual and potential needs/diagnoses
  • Responsible for gathering health history of patients through an interview of patient and/or
  • family members
  • Applies advanced knowledge, skills, and expertise in planning and implementation of
  • patient’s care by:
  • Assessment and management of wellness with consultation or referral as needed
  • Performs individual, marital, couples, group and crisis intervention counseling to patients experiencing social and emotional difficulties
  • Referral of unstable, chronic illness
  • Counseling and education relating to specific health care needs and/or health promoting
  • activities
  • Collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals in the provision of care
  • Must ensure BH team maintain patient documentation in a prompt and comprehensive manner
  • Ensures patient calls are returned and patient follow ups for referrals are handled promptly

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • A consumer advocate for quality behavioral health care and services
  • Ability to work with people of all socioeconomic levels
  • Ability to maintain appropriate clinical privileges
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of public health principles and practices
  • Ability to maintain appropriate hospital privileges

Required Education and Experience:

  • Possess a current and unrestricted license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners or a master’s level as a Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors
  • Certification in area of practice or eligibility for certification
  • Must be eligible for Medicare/Medicaid provider participation at the time of hire and while employed with CHN
  • At least one year of experience in area of practice
  • FTCA coverage or private professional malpractice insurance obtainable

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Five years clinical experience

Supervision Responsibilities:

  • Yes, the Clinical Supervisor will supervise BH Therapists. This includes annual evaluations, interviewing potential candidates, reviewing monthly peer review chart findings, coach, train, and support staff with chart documentation
