Join our team of competent and compassionate professionals as a Counselor in the My Sister’s House program at Behavioral Health Network!

**NOTICE**

In accordance with the BHN Mandatory COVID vaccine policy - all staff, interns, temps, residents and contractors are required to be fully vaccinated no later than day one of employment. Medical or religious exemptions will be offered and must be approved prior to starting work.

The same guidelines noted above apply during flu season (defined as December 1st – through end of flu season as announced by the CDC) for BHN’s Mandatory Influenza Vaccine policy.

Additionally, BHN is a Tobacco Free workplace. All Staff, interns, temps, residents and contractors agree not to smell of or use Tobacco or ENDS products while on paid work time or within sight of any BHN facility.

Your experience, knowledge and great skills will support the My Sister’s House program with the following:

  • Supporting the growth, independence, and safety of women overcoming substance use addiction through commitment to their empowerment, human rights, and community integration.
  • Developing and implementing treatment plans.
  • Providing individuals with referrals and access to agencies for aftercare planning.
  • Facilitating diverse psycho-educational groups for the individuals served.
  • Overseeing the activities and services for individuals to ensure compliance & provide the best recovery-based environment possible.
  • Monitoring the quality of services with the Clinical Manager.
  • Completing documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Abiding by licensing, funding, safety, and maintenance concerns.
  • Providing transportation, crisis intervention, and emergency services when needed.

Who are we?

My Sister’s House at BHN serves women ages 18 and up, including pregnant and post-partum women and their infants, who are working to recover from addiction and improve their lives. BHN employees at the 24-hour long-term program serve the women by providing a range of services including counseling, educational services, living skills training, parenting groups, and more.

There is lots of room to learn and grow as a Counselor at My Sister’s House! Counselors take on a leadership role, serving as positive role models for women newly in recovery. Under the supervision of an experienced clinical social worker, Counselors receive weekly individual and group supervision and clinical training and learn evidence-based recovery interventions. Counselors can apply their own recovery-based skills and passions to develop groups, activities, and further contribute to the program.

What are we looking for in a Counselor?

  • An open heart and mind and a commitment to the wellbeing of women in recovery.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent (required).
  • At least one year of experience in Human Services (required).
  • At least one year of experience working in substance treatment environment (required).
  • LADCI or LADCII or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of DPH Bureau of Substance Abuse regulations.
  • Familiarity with Internet, word processing and email systems.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
