My Doctors Live is Hiring a Medical Billing Specialist Near Lakeland, FL

Job Title: Medical Billing Specialist Department: Finance, Accounting, & Tax

Reports to: Director of Medical Billing Effective Date: 05/15/2024

Hourly or Salary: Hourly 

Job Summary: Responsible for calculating and collecting payments for medical procedures and services. Responsibilities include updating patient data, developing payment plans, preparing invoices, and ensuring that patients are billed quickly and accurately.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Enters charges with accurate data entry of codes. Ensures charges are entered/processed in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • May run and work missing charges, edits, denials list and process appeals
  • Searching each financial statement for any payment inconsistencies or errors
  • Collaborating with customers, third party vendors and other team members to resolve billing inconsistencies and errors
  • Creating invoices and billing materials to be sent directly to a customer
  • Inputting payment history, upcoming payment information or other financial data into an individual account
  • Finding financial solutions for customers who may need payment assistance
  • Informing customers of any missed or upcoming payment deadlines
  • Calculating and tracking various company financial statements
  • Adhere to all practice policies related to HIPAA and Medicare Compliance
  • Maintains the integrity of the office
  • Duties and responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice
  • Physical presence at the office on a set and predictable schedule

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent required
  • Certified Professional Biller, Certified Professional Coder and Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist is preferred 
  • Working knowledge of credentialing process and healthcare terminology

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong communication, including writing, speaking and active listening
  • Great customer service skills, including interpersonal conversation
  • Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • In-depth knowledge of industry best practices
  • Organization, time management and prioritization abilities
  • Ability to be discreet and maintain the security of patient or customer information
  • Understanding of industry-specific policies, such as HIPAA regulations for health care
  • Perform posting charges
  • Perform completion of claims to payers
  • Conduct duties in a professional and timely fashion
  • Submit billing data to the appropriate insurance providers
  • Process claims
  • Resolve denial instances
