Restorative/Surgical Assistant

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties.
  • Assist dentist chairside during examination and treatment of patients during a variety of operative treatment procedures.
  • Provide a 5-star Patient experience.
  • Contribute positively to an engaging office culture.
  • Prepares instruments and materials for the dentist for upcoming procedures.
  • Provide direct patient care in all dental services, including restorative, pediatric, periodontics, prosthodontics and oral surgery
  • Passes dental instruments between provider and assistant (4-handed dentistry).
  • Make patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair while preparing them for treatment.
  • Sterilize & disinfect instruments, equipment, and operatories post-treatment.
  • Instruct patients on pre-and post-operative procedures and provide oral health education.
  • Proficient in obtaining dental radiographs and intra-oral scans/photos.
  • Keep treatment records such as charting existing restorations as well as planned treatment.
  • Monitor daily supplies for restocking.
  • Assists the dentist in providing patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures.
  • Follows infection control protocol by preparing and sterilizing instruments, equipment, and all clinical settings.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Required: at least six months of dental assistant experience.

  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Clinical knowledge, skills along with patient care.

  • Prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
