Mustad is Hiring an Intern Drafter Near Forest, MN

***Paid Summer Internship***

Position Overview 

The intern drafter is responsible for organizing, updating, and creating 3D models and for converting modeled information into engineering drawings (blueprints). This role will update all technical information at Mustad USA, including tooling designs (sketches), product designs, physical layouts, spare parts, and electrical drawings, to ensure that all technical information is archived and accurate. Essential Job Functions (required duties and responsibilities)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

  • Using SolidWorks, develop 3D CAD models of processes, including tooling designs, product designs, physical layouts, spare parts and electrical drawings
  • Update plant layout drawings and models using CAD
  • Organize and update all technical documentation and ensure that all technical information is updated as changes and revisions are adopted
  • Participate in design reviews for new products and new process projects and translate outcomes into the creation of appropriate technical documents and/or updates of existing documentation
  • Support the SCF team with technical information regarding tooling, process specifications, etc.
  • Support the SCF team with technical knowledge of internal processes, including production, machine shop, and maintenance.
  • Provides support to management as requested and needed

Education, Experience, and Skills Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • College studies in mechanical design and/or drafting
  • 1 year experience in design & engineering department
  • SolidWorks experience
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and adaptability to change
  • Well organized with a strong aptitude for accuracy and details
  • Able to read, understand, analyze, and problem-solve mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Must work well in a team environment

Desirable Skills and Attributes (preferred but not required)

  • Mechanical design skills

Physical Demands

  • Extended time sitting, standing, and viewing the computer screen(s)
  • Infrequent lifting up to 25 lbs

Work Environment

  • Office setting in manufacturing/distribution facility environment
  • Some exposure to plant and warehouse environment, including heat, humidity, dust fumes, gases, toxic or hazardous chemicals, airborne particles, and significantly loud noise; Exposure to moving mechanical parts online, as well as moving equipment throughout the factory or warehouse
  • Mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which the company provides, following all safety and SOP regulations and procedures, including Mustad Performance System (MPS)
