Position Summary
The Database Administrator/Developer is primarily responsible for maintaining and growing Musicnotes data systems. The person in this position works within cross-functional teams in a DevOps, scrum-oriented framework. A typical day may include work on long term projects alone or in teams, responding to bug fix requests and rapidly turning around requests for data export and import.

Essential duties and responsibilities
1. Work within cross-functional teams in a DevOps Scrum framework development environment.
2. Participate in planning and development of new and migrating old internal data systems utilizing .Net and SQL Server technologies.
3. Participate in planning and implementation of HA/DR solutions for data and commerce systems.
4. Working with Azure SQL databases and hybrid cloud database systems.
6. Utilize SSIS for ETL of data from internal and external sources.
7. Optimize the performance of database systems.
8. Manage security for SQL Server databases.
9. Work with application developers to build and maintain a development environment.
10. Maintain legacy schema and code with an eye towards strategic refactoring of schema and processes.
11. Work with Product Owners and stakeholders to identify needs and solutions for reporting and self-service BI
12. Document procedures.
13. Turn around ad-hoc data processing requests quickly.
Education Requirement:
· Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in information technology with data and data structures.
Knowledge and Skills:
· Full understanding of relational database concepts
· Minimum of 3 – 5 years installing, configuring, and administrating Microsoft SQL Databases.
· 2-3 years experience working with SQL Server Integration Services for ETL processing and data extraction for export.
· Understanding how SQL Server interacts and functions with the underlying Windows OS.
· Experience working with SQL Server native XML functionality.
· Experience planning and implementing DR/HA strategies.
· Experience working within a DevOps Scrum framework.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to “look outside the box.”
Preferred, but not required, skills include:
· Experience with Database Architecture, analyzing existing data structures and modeling new schema designs.
· Experience in Azure and Cloud-based Microservices environment.
