Event Technician

Reports To: Event Production Manager
Position Summary
The Event Technician assists with the technical planning and execution of events and productions at Museum of the Bible. This position supports a wide array of event technical needs including audio/visual, lighting, projection, video production, live streaming, and stage management.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work with internal and external clients to plan and execute excellent events and productions. Facilitate great communication with Event Coordinators and internal partners such as Facilities and Security. Oversee load-ins, rehearsals, events, shows, and load-outs with excellence, efficiency and safety. Correspond directly with internal and external event clients to ensure sufficient preparation for effective event execution. Work safely and maintain safe, clean, and orderly conditions in event and back of house spaces. Support the success of client technicians and visiting productions. Collaborate with the Interactive Systems and World Stage technical teams to organize and maintain portable and installed equipment and systems used in event spaces, as well as provide support to each other as museum gallery and event needs vary. Stay up-to-speed with advancements in event technology and take advantage of opportunities to grow technical and interpersonal skills. Other duties as assigned by the Events Production Manager.
Education
High School Diploma; college degree a plus. 1-2 years of experience with audio, video, projection, lighting and streaming for events and/or theater productions.
Qualifications
Experience with and working knowledge of the following A/V systems and equipment strongly preferred: Lighting (grandMA2 ultra-light, ETC), Show control systems (Medialon), Audio mixing, DSP, recording, and amplification (Yamaha QL5, QSC Q-Sys, Meyer, JBL, Tannoy), Video playback, recording, switching, and distribution (Crestron, Alcorn McBride, Watchout, Seventh Sense), Video monitor and projection equipment (LG, Christie, Panasonic, Planar). Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Able to work evenings and weekends. Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Skills
Self-starter and self-motivated to learn and grow in skill set. Comfortable working with Windows and Mac computers for both office and technical uses. Comfortable communicating and working with people of highly varied roles and levels of technical experience. Able to remain calm under pressure and troubleshoot in challenging situations. Champion the Museum of the Bible’s mission to invite all people to engage with the transformative power of the Bible. As required, inclusion in official or incidental photographs and videos for MOTB and/or guests.
Work Environment
Physical demands/requirements are as follows:
Sit for up to 8 hours a day.
Squat bending at the knees.
Stand for long periods of time.
Lift up to 10 lbs. for short periods of time.
