PRIMARY FUNCTION: The job of Media Specialist was established for the purpose/s of overseeing library/media operations by maintaining library collection controls, documenting losses and monitoring procedures; implementing age appropriate programs for students utilizing library resources; selecting appropriate items in support of classroom instruction; maintaining instructional technology assigned to the school site; and instructing students on the proper use of the library resource.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
2. Coordinates request of individuals and/or sites (e.g. technical support, equipment requirements, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of instructional technology equipment for instructional use.
3. Evaluates media and other technology equipment for the purpose of making repairs, providing technical support, diagnosing malfunctions and/or recommending acquisitions.
4. Maintains appropriate inventory of technology and media material for the purpose of internal distribution.
5. Operates a variety of media production equipment and systems (e.g. program channel, video tape, edit media, duplicate media, etc.) for the purpose of providing media production services.
6. Performs other related duties, as assigned, ensuring the efficient, effective functioning of the work unit.
