What you will do as an Application Specialist

• Liaison between the Application Development and Technical Support Team for support of mission-critical applications
• Create new tools for the Application Development or Technical Support teams to improve efficiency and allow for faster development
• Monitor and maintain the Musco database and application environment. In some cases, including installation
• Support the hardware and software needed to make this environment work
• Investigate and test new technologies with the established parameters of the Systems Technology Manager
• Assist in the development and execution of project schedules
• Ensure installed software systems are properly maintained
• Provide timely end-user support as needed
• Participate in on-call support during non-business hours on a rotational basis. Remediation may require work during non-business hours

What you need to be successful

1. Minimum Two-year degree in a Computer Science-related field and 5 years of experience. A four-year degree is a plus
2. Knowledge of Relational Databases like Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Progress Open Edge
3. Knowledge of Programming Languages like C#.NET, VB.NET, Progress 4GL, Bash, Perl, Python, PowerShell, and the ability to learn additional languages
4. Experience with Storage Area Networks is a plus
5. Familiar with IDEs like Visual Studio or Eclipse
6. Experience with REST Web services and Application Server technologies (i.e. Apache Tomcat, Apache Web server, IIS, and Kestrel)
7. Knowledge of Linux, Windows, and vSphere Operating Systems
8. Understand Authentication systems (i.e. OAuth, SAML, and Secure Ticketing Services)
9. Skilled in Directory Services (i.e. Active Directory, Azure AD, and AWS IAM)
10. Expertise with basic networking and network troubleshooting
11. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
12. Ability to work in a team environment, while working with some amount of self-directedness
13. Work confidentially with data
14. Answer occasional calls during non-work hours as part of troubleshooting.
15. In the rare event of an emergency, may be required to come to the office unexpectedly or log-in remotely
