Job Description Summary
Medical Lab Technicians (MLT) support high quality laboratory testing in a clinical laboratory and report to section manager. Under general supervision, MLTs in this role will process specimens for testing at reference laboratories, package shipments for courier and FedEx/UPS delivery, participate in specimen preparation for specialized studies, and prepare billing and prior authorization workups. MLTs also recognize and evaluate computer data problems, troubleshoot laboratory instruments, perform preventative maintenance, communicate technical information to medical and lay persons, assist with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures, participate in continuing education, and model Standards of Behavior in daily interactions and activities.Entity

Job Description
Performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures. Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures. Operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Performs quality control and assurance procedures. Records lab results in specified system. Follows all required privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards.Additional Job Description
Minimum Training and Education: An Associates degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP). If not certified, must be registry eligible and enrolled to take certification exam during the first year of employment.
