The Opportunity:

OVERVIEW
ABOUT THE POSITION
As the Tax Information Specialist (Assessment and Taxation Technician 1 (A&T Tech. 1)) for the Property Tax and Ownership (PT&O) team, with the Division of Assessment, Recording and Taxation (DART), you will provide sincere and authentic customer service to the public and internal customers, responding to a wide variety of questions related to property tax and ownership as well as providing backup support to those in passport services and clerk function services.
Responsibilities Include:
This is not intended to be a an all-inclusive list of responsibilities
  • Provide general knowledge of the passport program in-person, by phone, through email, and live-chat.
  • Operate office equipment and computers
  • Utilize multiple software systems and office equipment.
  • Provide general knowledge of Oregon Revised Statutes that govern the various services provided
  • Transfer of ownership: Change ownership from one party to another, change mailing address as requested.
  • Receive payments for tax title contracts and verify accuracy of tax amounts and payments prior to recording of plats and subdivisions.
  • Cash handle; collect processing fees and balance drawers daily
  • Ensure security with a cash drawer ensuring it’s locked when not in use and maintaining awareness of key location at all times.
  • Print tax bills for customers; process mail and email fax request; mail requested forms and flyers, and keep information documents in the lobby stocked.
  • Provide back-up to both the customer service passport team and the clerk team; maintain required passport forms and supplies; prepare and ship daily passports forms and supplies, take passport photos, backup employee photo ID process

TO QUALIFY:

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:
  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
  • Two years of experience servicing the public and/ or providing customer service to include problem solving responsibilities.
  • Ability to be certified as a Passport Acceptance Agent by the US Department of State once hired; must be able to provide proof of United States Citizenship.
  • Background check: All finalists must pass a criminal records check

  • Experience providing customer service in a public service or government environment while following established rules, laws and regulations.

  • Transferable skills: Your transferable skills are any skills you have gained through education, work experience (including the military) or life experience that are relevant for this position.
