Grants Manager

MSC is currently seeking a full-time Grants Manager. This position is part of a two-person grants team responsible for managing the grant process for both public and private funders. The grants team works together to achieve funding and reporting goals. This team is responsible for generating operating funds available for the agency and/or agency programs through grant research and writing and for all reporting functions associated with these grants. This position is a part of the development team and may also assist with other fundraising activities as needed. The position successfully incorporates diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.

The Grants Manager reports to the Development Director. This position is at our MSC’s facilities in Federal Way.

Status and Schedule

  • Non-Exempt, Full-time, Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with some flexibility. Some evening and/or weekend work may be required. This position may also currently work a hybrid schedule with some remote work possible.

Overview of Responsibilities

  • Successfully manage the grant application cycle from start to finish, to include: researching potential opportunities, gathering stakeholder feedback, writing narratives/completing all application materials, gathering necessary supplement documents and budgets, submitting by deadline, and tracking successful/unsuccessful grant awards.
  • Regularly research restricted and unrestricted grant opportunities for federal and state government grants/contracts, private foundations, and corporate support.
  • Coordinating funding need requests from program Directors by collecting, identifying, and suggesting applicability of projects for potential funding sources in collaboration with Development Director, CEO and/or COO.
  • Manage and account for grant contract routing, funder communication in relation to grants and notification of all funding awards to appropriate staff.
  • Collaborate with all program directors in preparing and submitting all public grant proposals.
  • Maintain knowledge of reimbursable and allowable costs under public funding contracts in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Assist with narratives for monthly or quarterly reports to public funding entities as needed.
  • Prepare and submit reports required by private foundation or corporate funders in collaboration with Directors.
  • Manage deadlines around grant outcome and output reports, narrative reports, and financial reports in collaboration with Finance and Directors.
  • Cultivate positive external relationships with funding partners and represent the mission, vision, values of the organization in communication with these entities.
  • Develop and implement stewardship and cultivation plans.
  • Maintain and update a grant dashboard of upcoming applications, submitted applications, deadlines and award statuses to report to Directors, CEO, and COO.
  • Maintain a pipeline of all funding applications and a dashboard for all agency grants and contracts.
  • Travel to MSC (Multi-Service Center) offices and program meetings throughout south King County and the city of Seattle.
  • Represents the agency with community partners and groups as requested.
  • Actively participate in community engagement opportunities to build awareness of MSC and encourage funding partnerships.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least two years, three years preferred, of demonstrated experience in research, grant development, proposal writing, and grant management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision and meet deadlines.
  • Time management skills to handle unexpected projects and still meet deadlines.
  • Ability to represent MSC and all of its programs to funders in a professional and positive manner.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of collaborators and partners including agency/program staff, government, private and corporate funders, other non-profits, and affinity groups.
  • Use of discretion to maintain fiscal, personnel, and client confidentiality.
  • Read, write, and understand the English language.
  • Proficiency with basic math.
  • Ability to analyze data and write compelling, compassionate statements about the same.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 experience including OneDrive, Outlook email and calendaring, and standard Office applications including (MS Excel and SQL statement)

Wage/Salary Range

Grade: 16 - $31.55 – $35.19 DOE
