JOB SUMMARY:

The Armed Security Officer is a deterrent to criminal activity by remaining visible and presenting a neat and professional appearance in properly worn uniform and associated equipment. Under general supervision, is responsible for assisting in the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, and all visitors of the Tribe.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Welcome customers in a warm, gracious manner inviting them into the location.
  2. Proactively scan for potential threats stemming from criminal activity or life safety issues.
  3. Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
  4. Sound alarms or calls police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  5. Identify and warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles.
  6. Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitors entrances and exits.
  7. Prevent individuals from theft of company property.
  8. Investigate and prepares reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required by the post.
  9. Liaison with local law enforcement.
  10. Troubleshoot customer issues, concerns, or complaints; relay pertinent information to management
  11. Ensure job site area with your area of control is clean and professional at all times.
  12. Assist with basic first aid.
  13. Make emergency notifications.
  14. Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle.
  15. Because of the Tribes commitment to community service and the wellbeing of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.
EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION:

Required:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years security experience or experience deemed relevant by hiring Manager.

Special Requirements:

  • A valid Washington State drivers license is required at the time of appointment.
  • Incumbents must be able to pass a background check and drug screen; complete and pass medical screening, psychological assessment, and polygraph.
  • Incumbents must maintain the ability to pass bi-yearly background checks.

Effective oral and written communication skills; Active listening skills; Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively; Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately; Attention to detail; Must be able to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors; Must have demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public; Must practice good judgment; high level of integrity; Must be proactive; take initiative with minimal supervision; Must be resourceful; think critically and finds solutions even without the obvious resources; Must be able to navigate challenging situations while remaining positive; Ability to follow orders; Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office; Ability to write accurate detailed reports; Knowledge of defensive tactics and de-escalation techniques; Ability to keep proprietary or confidential information secure.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this class.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and occasionally use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee may be required to initiate a physical takedown/apprehension of a suspect or assist with such an incident. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Licenses or Certifications Required:
Current and valid Washington state drivers license.Upon hire, participation and completion of mandatory trainings is required every two years. These include but are not limited to: Crisis Intervention Defensive Tactics Basic Firearm Training Pepper Spray Training Taser Training
