SALARY: $71,676.80 - $106,121.60 Annually.Monthly paid position.

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY:

The Nurse Coordinator, Time Critical (Stroke/STEMI), CRMC coordinates the development, implementation, and evaluation of systems and programs directed toward the provision of quality services for for time critical diagnosis (TCD) patients from a multi-disciplinary perspective throughout the continuum of care at Capital Region Medical Center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provides and documents stroke and STEMI nursing care to include all components of the nursing process by written clinical and administrative procedures. Assesses the needs for policies, procedures, and protocols relating to the care of stroke and STEMI patients in coordination with the medical directors, hospital administration, and clinicians. Coordinates with physicians, nurses, and other hospital staff to evaluate and address specific patient care issues. Coordinates the development and implementation of clinical pathways for stroke and STEMI patient populations incorporating members from the multi-disciplinary team.

Develops policies and procedures based on input from clinicians and other resources such as data from patient care evaluations. Coordinates, develops, and implements orientation, nursing education, and in-service programs related to the care and management of stroke and STEMI patients in conjunction with the Continuing Education Department. Directs community stroke and STEMI education and prevention programs by developing, implementing, and evaluating programs for targeted populations in the city and surrounding communities related to stroke prevention, STEMI, and other topics identified through a needs assessment for the community. Maintains appropriate credentialing and/or accreditation designations as directed by hospital and service line leadership. Assists the medical directors and hospital administration in the development, implementation, and evaluation of a quality plan, which is multi-disciplinary and patient outcomes focused.Coordinates the identification, investigation, reporting, and follow-up of
incidents and quality issues throughout the program while maintaining confidentiality. Oversees the collecting, coding, scoring, and developing of
processes for validation of data entered into the stroke registry and STEMI registry.

Continues improvements to the stroke and STEMI registries to facilitate performance improvement activities, trend reports, and research while protecting
confidentiality. Serves as a resource for staff in all departments to network to provide high-quality stroke and STEMI patient care and act as a liaison for Emergency Medical Services agencies and the community. Participates in the development of stroke and STEMI care systems at the community, state, and national levels, mandatory educational activities relating to stroke or STEMI care, and case review. Represents the Stroke and STEMI Programs on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster optimal stroke and STEMI care management. May participate in research selection, analysis, and distribution of findings and facilitate protocol design for accurate data collection, feedback, and analysis. Develops, coordinates, and maintains daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of unit coverage and continuity of care. May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.

Supervision is received from the assigned director. Collaboration with the Nurse Coordinator, Time Critical (Stroke) and Coordinator, Time Critical (STEMI) at MU Health Care.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.- Three (3) years of RN experience.- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within one (1) year as a condition of continued employment in this job classification. Stroke Certified Registered Nurse (SCRN) certification by the ABNN within one(1) year as a condition of continued employment in this job classification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is strongly preferred.- Master of Science in Nursing degree.- Two (2) years of nursing experience in stroke, emergency, cardiology, or cardiac catherization lab.- Healthcare management experience.- Research experience.- Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
