Shift: Monday – Friday, 8am – 5:00, occasional evenings for group

Salary Range: Salary: $52,666 to $83,179

Essential Functions: 
  • Provide patient care by conducting nutrition assessments on patients or clients according to standards of care, policies, and protocol. Accurately make nutrition diagnosis when appropriate that can be supported by assessment data. Individualize nutrition interventions for each patient or client. Consistently monitor patient or client progress towards goals. Prioritize care to provide coverage for other units or areas when another dietitian is absent.
  • Provide on-going nutrition education. This includes education for dietetic students and interns, assessment of educational needs and provision of nutrition counseling for individuals or groups, development and revision of patient education materials, and participation in community projects and education as needed. Share information learned from educational meetings and webinars with peers.
  • Effectively communicate with nursing, medical, and other hospital staff to ensure high quality nutritional care for patients or clients. Regularly attend interdisciplinary rounds, discharge planning, and patient care conferences for effective communication with appropriate team members. Act as a resource to medical staff and allied health personnel on nutrition issues. 
  • Facilitate clinical nutrition business practices by assigning and directing the workload of dietitians and diet technicians. Assist in achieving compliance with regulatory standards. Identify opportunities to increase awareness of nutrition services. Participate in planning and developing nutrition-related policies, procedures, processes, protocols and goals. Participate in the orientation of new clinical nutrition staff as well as the ongoing training of dietitians and diet technicians in areas of expertise.
  • Identify and collect performance improvement data, monitor outcomes, and initiate corrective actions. Keep manager informed about issues and problems impacting the work area. Assist in determining solutions and highlight positive actions or behaviors.
  • Keep professional development current with own level of nutrition care expertise to assure evidence-based practice for patients or clients, staff, students, and the community.
Required Qualifications: 
  • Dietitian licensure from the Missouri Committee of Dietitians board. 
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). 
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Masters degree
  • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
