Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Disability Studies, Counseling, Psychology, or a closely related field required

Minimum of 2 years of office experience providing direct services to persons with disabilities or experience in college counseling and academic advising/counseling

Ability to advise/counsel students individually

Thorough knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act

Ability to work with diverse population and fast-paced environment

Skilled in counseling/advising, workshops and program development/facilitation

Proficiency in report writing

Available to work on flexible schedule

Working experience of computer applications, including Outlook, Microsoft Word/Excel.

Ability to manage high level confidentiality and compliance

Individuals must possess excellent verbal and written & telephonic communication skills, and strong customer service skills.

Knowledge of college student development and student success theory and/or experience working with non-traditional student populations, student advising, or undergraduate retention

Responsibilities:

Responsible for assisting students with disabilities to have equal access to all AIMS Education classes and programs including acting as a liaison between students and instructors, support staff, and/or other campus resources and service.
Assist in the implementation of various academic support interventions (AIMS Academic Enrichment Program, Academic Coaching, etc.).
Coordinate all aspects of accommodations for students receiving ADA-504 support services (room reservations, scheduling, proctoring, etc.).
Demonstrated commitment supportive of the multicultural needs of the AIMS Education community are highly desired.
Assists with training students to use assistive technology, providing workshops, and promoting inclusion on campus
Evaluates, verifies, and interprets documentation from various professionals to determine eligibility and appropriate/reasonable disability related accommodations at the college level
Serves as resource person for students, faculty, and staff on matters regarding the provision of academic accommodations for students with disabilities
Works collaboratively with community agencies
Performs other administrative duties as assigned by the academic office.
