Mt. Lebanon, PA is Hiring a Recreation Assistant Program Manager Near Pittsburgh, PA

Reports To: RECREATION PROGRAM MANAGER

Gives Direction To: RECREATION DEPARTMENT PART TIME STAFF

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)

NATURE OF WORK

This is a professional management and administrative position providing supervision, planning and support with all aspects of seasonal recreation programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assists Program Manager with program development, supervision, special events operations and in acquiring sponsorship for various programs and events.
  • Recruits and supervises paid and volunteer recreation personnel; supervises and schedules part time staff.
  • Processes program registrations and provides reception coverage as needed.
  • Functions as recreation program manager in absence of recreation program manager.
  • Supervises programs and assists with special events including evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Coordinates program volunteers.
  • Prepares permit applications and schedules facilities.
  • Coordinates publicity and creates promotional materials.
  • Updates municipal website.
  • Prepares purchase orders and processes invoices.
  • Prepares financial and statistical reports.
  • Maintains supplies, equipment and materials in support of program needs.
  • Sets up and supervises special events and programs.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

  • Clear understanding of recreational programs.
  • Knowledge of common computer programs and office machines, including Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams , WordPress, Constant Contact and athletic scheduling software. (Peak SportsMan software systems).
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to present ideas and recommendations clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Clear understanding of supervisory practices.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor’s degree in Recreation with two years of progressively responsible experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would demonstrate the skills and abilities to perform the work.

ESSNENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop; use hands to handle, or feel equipment and supplies. The employee is required to sit at times at a desk and operate office equipment. The employee will need to be able to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee must regularly lift tables, chairs, tents or other objects and move up to 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions. Requires normal range of hearing, eyesight and verbal communications to supervise, record, prepare and communicate appropriate activities. The essential job duties are required to be performed in person, including in person interaction with patrons of municipal recreation programs.
