Mt Carmel Veterans Service Center is Hiring a Financial Counselor/Coach Near Colorado, CO

Veterans Service Center (VSC) Mission: To provide best practices for our military, veterans, and their families with accessible programs, integrated resources, and collaborative partnerships that empower lives and strengthen our community.

Financial Coach Mission: Support the vision and goals of Mt. Carmel VSC by providing financial counseling and financial education services to military, veterans and their families while representing the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.

Departmental Responsibilities:

· The Financial Coach will serve a critical function in the ongoing development & implementation of Mt. Carmel’s Financial Wellness Program.

· The Financial Coach will provide information & assistance in the way of: one on one budgeting and financial organization skills, resource referrals, financial education workshops, follow-ups, and advocacy to access and receive needed services.

Main Responsibilities:

Clients

· Provide one-on-one, telephone and email assistance to assess and overcome financial barriers for clients.

· Provide clients with an actionable set of recommendations.

· Assist client in navigating basic personal finance skills.

· Conduct follow-ups with clients to ensure services are accessed, identify and assist with additional services and track outcomes for clients.

· Ensure best practices in maintaining confidentiality and privacy of client information.

· Communicate with community partners to advocate on behalf of the client.

· Remain diligent and responsive with the client until professional relationship is ended.

· Maintain client records and input into database in a timely manner. Case notes must be made within 2 business days.

Community

· Conduct all activities pertinent to the operation of the Financial Wellness Program through collaboration with community partners and volunteers.

· Knowledge of an array of resources and continued awareness to remain current on resource availability, resource accessibility guidelines to include but not limited to: financial community resources, Veteran's benefits, career development, legal, educational benefits, financial resources, and wrap around services provided at Mt. Carmel Veteran Service Center.

· Maintain working professional relationships with Mt. Carmel staff, partners and referral agencies.

· Attend all community and internal meetings as instructed by the Director of Military, Veteran, & Family Services.

· Maintain professional and consistent representation of Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center in all outreach activities.

· Attend resource fairs as instructed by Director of Military, Veteran, & Family Services.

  • Research and explore community partner options to assist clients.

General Support

· Ability to empathetically work with individuals of all ages and diverse backgrounds.

· Ensure a high level of customer service to clients.

· Work some nontraditional hours, including evenings, weekends, as needed or directed by Director of Military, Veteran, & Family Services.

· Attend meetings as instructed in absence of Director of Military, Veteran, & Family Services.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (Preferred) (min: Associates) in Personal Financial Management and/or Certification from an accredited professional financial industry education entity (i.e., Accredited Financial Counselor, Certified Financial Coach, Certified Financial Planner, etc.)
