Day Treatment Social Worker -
Position Title: Day Treatment Social Worker (“Clinician”)
Location: Mt Blue Middle School
Reports to/supervised by: Clinicians are directly supervised by the Special Education Director, building principal and are clinically supported by the Clinical Consultant.
Primary Qualifications:
A Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) or Clinical Counseling from an accredited program with a minimum of two years of supervised clinical experience preferred.
Clinicians must have experience working with children and/or families.
Clinicians must have an active Clinical License (LCSW, LMSW-cc, LCPC, LCPC-C) and no active violations or restrictions on their license. Clinicians shall have knowledge of and comply with local, state and federal mandates related to their practice, including notifying employers and school administrators of ethical responsibilities of clinically licensed professionals.
Clinicians are expected to behave ethically and professionally, using a professional ethical decision-making model when necessary. A working understanding of diverse populations, the various needs of myriad students, families, parents and communities being served in a school-based setting is paramount. In the event of conflicts among competing expectations, RSU 9 clinicians are directed to their Professional Code of Ethics as a tool for their decision-making.
Clinicians must have a working knowledge of public education systems and the special education process and regulations, to assist in increasing best possible outcomes for students and families.
Clinicians must be able to collaborate well with others. The position also requires emotional resilience and stability since the work may involve dealing with crises.
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
Assessment and Planning. Clinicians will complete comprehensive assessments.
Intervention. Clinicians will provide evidence based individual and/or group therapy services that meet the needs of students attending the RSU 9 Day Treatment Program.
Documentation. Clinicians are responsible for maintaining timely and accurate documentation in a manner that is consistent with Maine Care billing practices utilizing the district’s designated electronic health record.
Program Support. Clinicians will be a regular and visual presence within the classroom milieu, a clinical lead, and an active member of the school based team, providing supportive services as needed, including but not limited to monitoring and supervision of students, communication with team members (e.g., school staff, parents/guardians), collaboration and contribution to the development of program procedures with the support of the Clinical Consultant.
Supervision. Clinicians will maintain and document supervision for all Behavior Health Professionals at a minimum rate of 4 hours monthly. Supervision may be provided individually or in a group. Ongoing clinical supervision occurs daily within the context of the milieu.
Terms of Employment: 180 school days, Professional Staff Contract
Evaluation: Annual, utilizing the District evaluation tool for Professional Staff
