MSUFCU is Hiring a Branch Manager - Chicago Near Chicago, IL

Position Summary:
The Branch Manager leads a branch or branches to achieve strategic organizational goals and is responsible for the complete member and employee experience within their branch(es) with a strong focus on providing superior member service. The Branch Manager is responsible for identifying areas of strength and development for their team and supporting employee onboarding, performance, retention, and engagement. The Branch Manager is responsible for the branch grounds and facility, including safety, maintenance, appearance, and brand image. The branch manager represents the Credit Union in the community at various events that support MSUFCU's strategic initiatives. The Branch Manager ensures compliance with Credit Union policies and procedures. The position requires the ability to work during branch hours, including Saturdays and the hours necessary to meet responsibilities, and may require supporting other locations to meet needs across the branch network.
Work Location:
The Branch Manager will support three branches within the Chicago area. Travel requirements will be discussed throughout the interview process. The branch locations include:
  • Clark Street Branch: 1550 N. Clark St.
  • North Avenue Branch: 2234 W. North Ave.
  • Division Street Branch: 101 W. Division St.
An offer of employment with MSU Federal Credit Union and affiliates is contingent upon the agreed work arrangement (onsite/hybrid/remote) and work location. MSU Federal Credit Union may or may not be able to accommodate temporary or permanent changes to work arrangements or allow employment outside the city and/or state of residency in which the new hire resides at the time of offered employment.
Schedule:
This position requires the ability to work during the branch hours of operation, including rotating Saturdays. Managers work every other Saturday and receive a consistent day off during the week to offset their hours.Additional time may be required to fulfill responsibilities. This position is also required to represent the Credit Union in the community at events and volunteer functions outside of branch hours.

    • Monday - Thursday 8:45am-5:45pm
    • Friday 8:00am-6:15pm
    • Rotating Saturdays 8:45am-1:15pm
Pay & Benefits:
  • Salary Range (dependent on experience):
    • Branch Manager I: $89,000 - $120,000
    • Senior Branch Manager: $102,000 - $138,000

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Branch Manager
  • Creates and implements strategies to achieve sales goals and initiatives for the branch(es) that align with and advance the Credit Union's business objectives.
  • Leads change successfully by communicating the organizational strategy, ensuring timely, accurate, and effective communication with, and gaining buy-in from employees and members, and addressing open questions and resolving concerns.
  • Leads a team of branch employees and ensures they have the knowledge, tools, and resources to successfully meet their sales and organizational goals, mitigate risk to the Credit Union and provide superior service to members.
  • Manages the complete member experience in the branch, creating a welcoming and inviting environment that engages members in the space, fully utilizing the interactive branch zones and technology.
  • Assists branch employees with addressing and resolving complex and/or escalated member situations, and effectively evaluates risk to decision transactions and member requests.
  • Utilizes knowledge of market conditions and Credit Union financial targets to anticipate and drive activities that align with business objectives.
  • Creates and maintains a working environment that supports employee engagement, trust, and retention, including recommending salary increases and promotions.
  • Evaluates and manages employee performance by coaching to the strengths of each employee, identifying areas of opportunity for employee development, providing clear and timely performance feedback, conducting performance reviews, and delivering corrective actions when appropriate.
  • Selects, builds, and fosters a team of knowledgeable and passionate employees who are eager to educate members on the Credit Union's products and services.
  • Maintains compliance with policies, procedures, laws, and regulations, and demonstrates urgency in correcting exceptions.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and communicates fluctuations and trends in member volume and service level, and implements process efficiencies to improve productivity.
  • Identifies and acts on items that increase branch performance and improve processes, procedures, and the member service experience, and shares findings and best practices with peers.
  • Leads and participates as a branch representative in effective informational meetings, trainings, projects, and committees with various stakeholders from within and outside of the Credit Union.
  • Represents the branch(es) and the Credit Union within the community and at various events that support MSUFCU's strategic initiatives while actively identifying and developing partnerships.
  • Supports member service needs across the branch network by maintaining adequate staffing and offering assistance to other locations, including employee resources when able and reviewing member requests via the Helpline.
Senior Branch Manager
  • Delivers on all Branch Manager responsibilities at an advanced proficiency, experience, and application level.
  • Demonstrates an ability to effectively resolve complex member and employee situations considering legal, financial, and reputational risk to the Credit Union.
  • Demonstrates an ability to independently understand and lead change with limited guidance, implementing actions to garner understanding and support from employees and peers.
  • Effectively enhances goal attainment and service levels, while also mitigating risk.
  • Leads divisional projects and represents branch division in organizational projects and committees, sharing branch needs and perspectives; demonstrating ownership, initiative, and responsibility to meet project objectives.
  • Utilizing a deep understanding of branch statistics, metrics, and Credit Union financials, takes a leadership role in developing and implementing solutions that increase branch performance, sales, and productivity and improve processes, procedures, and the member service experience throughout the branch network.
  • Shares information obtained through independent learning and presents and implements innovative ideas that will benefit the division and the Credit Union.
  • Leverages knowledge of membership needs and business objectives to advance branch space and technology, providing suggestions and feedback to partner in the advancement of the branch experience.
  • Actively participates in the branch community, building and leveraging relationships to increase branch performance and support the Credit Union's strategic objectives. Utilizes this unique knowledge and perspective to anticipate member and market needs, proposing and implementing product and service strategies to meet these needs; working in alignment with the Market Managers.
  • Serves as a mentor and peer leader to other management team members by contributing to their growth and development. Providing direction and perspective regarding complex situations while independently recognizing and acting on this need for peer support.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Branch Manager
  • Bachelor's degree and/or financial industry experience preferred
  • Previous managerial and/or leadership experience required, with demonstrated success effectively leading a team
  • Ability to effectively lead a team to attain goals
  • Service industry experience focused on building and maintaining long-term relationships with customer base and effectively resolving difficult situations required
  • Knowledge and understanding of Credit Union products, services, process & procedures, laws & regulations, and platforms preferred
Senior Branch Manager
  • Meets or exceeds all of the Branch Manager job requirements
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of Credit Union products, services, process & procedures, laws & regulations, and platforms
  • Advanced ability to effectively lead a team to attain goals
  • Acts as a known resource throughout the branch network including independently providing peer mentorship and leveraging peer network across the Credit Union
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • May be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period.
  • Ability to operate standard office technology, equipment and tools, which may include many hours of computer and phone usage.
  • Ability to move about inside of office area.
  • Exposure to potentially hazardous condition, i.e., robbery, and follows detailed instructions and procedures to minimize the exposure.
  • The working arrangements for this position are onsite.
