General Description:

• Assist in safe and efficient operation of the Transportation Department.

Qualifications:

• Determined by Superintendent, School Board and Transportation Director.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Complete duties assigned by Superintendent, Director or other authority.
• Maintain safe buses in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
• Respond to road service requests during routes or extra curricular activities.
• Prepare/maintain buses for Indiana State Police Inspection.
• Manages/maintenance and repair of maintenance and food services vehicles. Service/repair mowers and other equipment.
• Document repair history and warranty repairs for all vehicles and equipment.
• Operate under current budget along with planning and recommending future budgets. Prepares/assists with purchase orders.
• Assist with school bus replacement strategy.
• Recruit, evaluate and recommend mechanic(s) to be hired.
• Supervise and assign duties to mechanics.
• Define and obtain needed training and equipment for mechanic staff.
• Maintain a safe working environment.
• Operate diagnostic equipment and programs for bus evaluation.
• Operate GPS tracking and diagnostic equipment.
• Recruit drivers and assist with bus driver training.
• Assist with school owned and contract bus drivers.
• Maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License to operate a school bus. Serve as a substitute as needed and assigned.
• Serve as Designated Employee Representative and maintain compliance with drug/alcohol testing.
• Assist as directed by the Transportation Director.
