Your team responsibilities

As the Executive Director of Portfolio Marketing Strategy, you will be an important Marketing leader responsible for developing multi-product positioning for a specific persona or segment across MSCI’s product lines and supporting cross functional Go To Market efforts for our diverse product portfolio. You will play a pivotal role in accelerating revenue growth in MSCI’s core Institutional Investor segments as well as Emerging segments, driving deep client understanding, and supporting MSCI as it transforms to a truly client centric organization.

Your key responsibilities
Client-Centric Program Leadership:
  • Lead in rolling out key client-centricity programs, including Value Proposition training, Persona Development, and the New Product Development process to embed a client centric mindset across functions.
  • Lead the value proposition validation effort on behalf of marketing in the One MSCI Product Lifecycle process, ensuring new solutions are aligned with client needs and to ensure new solutions create significant client value.
Market Research, Analysis, and Data-Driven Insights:
  • Stay abreast of industry trends across all key markets, competitive landscapes, and client needs through secondary market research and in-depth segment analysis.
  • Generate data-driven market insights to support client story development, identify market/client trends, to inform marketing strategy and value proposition development. Help the broader organization develop client expertise across segments and personas.
  • Utilize gathered data and insights to drive informed decision-making, ensuring marketing strategies are aligned with market trends and client demand.
  • Partner closely with the product and product marketing teams to support initiative sizing in the new product development process, incorporating insights for successful launches.
  • Continuously monitor market dynamics, adapting strategies as needed to capitalize on emerging opportunities and mitigate potential threats.
Orchestrate Marketing Strategy:
  • Drive the orchestration of marketing strategies across product marketing teams to ensure coherence, rationalization, and alignment with overall business goals and client needs.
  • Foster collaboration and communication among teams to maintain a unified marketing approach.
  • Develop portfolio level value propositions, leveraging input from individual product lines to create synergy across marketing narratives
Go-to-Market Coordination:
  • Provide support for go-to-market coordination, collaborating with coverage, product, research, and marketing teams.
  • Ensure prioritization is commercially and market demand-driven, optimizing the launch and promotion of products.
Your skills and experience that will help you excel
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
  • 10-12 years of strategic marketing experience, with a focus on portfolio management.
  • Commercially minded, with deep understanding of subscription business models and how to partner with sales teams to unlock growth
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies.
  • Strong command of the Financial Services industry broadly, and the investment industry specifically, including understanding of information analytics businesses.
  • Demonstrated previous strategic planning experience with a keen understanding of market dynamics.
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Ability to lead in a matrixed organization, requiring cross-functional collaboration and effective communication.
  • Experience in Value Proposition development and validation efforts in the New Product Development (NPD) process.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities, with the capability to convey complex ideas to diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapting strategies to capitalize on emerging opportunities and mitigate potential threats.
