Commercial Driver’s License Teacher (full-time)

The Commercial Driver’s License Teacher provides classroom, road and range instruction to students who are
pursuing a Commercial Driver’s License. This includes scheduling student behind-the-wheel drive time and
coordinating drive and instructional time with other part-time teachers to meet student needs.
Qualifications:

  • Must meet requirements as outlined by the Department of Secretary of State, Bureau of Motor Vehicles: Rules Governing Driver Education (http://www.maine.gov/sos/cec/rules/29/250/250c009.docx), MVR#11, MSAD17 school districts.
  • o Specifically be able to teach Class A (classroom and behind the wheel) instruction on class A and B vehicles (not including Bus).
  • Prior CDL teaching experience preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including daytime, evenings and weekends as necessary to meet student needs.

Reports to:
Adult Education Director

Job Goal:
Participates in the planning and implementing of student learning activities which reflect OHTS’s, Adult
Education and MSAD17’s beliefs, vision, administration and board policies.

Responsibilities:
. Demonstrates knowledge of subject area and learning outcomes
. Demonstrates short term and long term planning and maintains current program course of study.
. Demonstrates skill in the selection and use of instructional and classroom materials
. Demonstrates skill in classroom management
. Demonstrates skill in human relations and customer/student service, professional growth.
. Demonstrates effective instructional techniques
. Demonstrates ability to manage time, complete duties and responsibilities as they relate to teaching,
program management, etc. and as required or necessary for the program.
. Full-time teacher supervises and schedules part-time CDL teacher as needed and appropriate.
. Ensures that all equipment is maintained and in working order and coordinates the maintenance and
upkeep of equipment as necessary.
. Participates in professional development activities and staff meetings as requested or required.
. Maintains strong and open school and community relations.
. Salary and benefits are in accordance with OHTS negotiated agreement
. Performance is evaluated by the Adult Education Director

OXFORD HILLS REGION
The Oxford Hills School District (MSAD 17) comprises the towns of Norway, South Paris, West Paris,
Oxford, Waterford, Harrison, Hebron and Otisfield. MSAD 17 shares vocational resources and accepts
students in its Oxford Hills Technical School programs from the RSU10 School District towns of Buckfield,
Hartford and Sumner. Oxford Hills/Nezinscot Adult Education is located within the Oxford Hills
Comprehensive High School.

The Oxford Hills offer a variety of outdoor resources for anyone wishing to enjoy the region, whatever the
season. The area boasts more than ten lakes and ponds for outdoor recreation, a land trust with hundreds of
acres for skiing, snowshoeing, and is in close proximity to several downhill skiing areas! Community
support for Oxford Hills athletics and extracurricular activities is very strong and represents the robust
regional commitment to the students and schools within the district.

4. Employing effective lesson design by adjusting to students’ personal learning needs and preferences,
including appropriate technology applications.
