MS Department of Mental Health is Hiring a Psychometrist Near Jackson, MS

The Mississippi Department of Mental Health is seeking for an experienced and compassionate Psychometrist. The ideal candidate for this position should be a highly organized individual with excellent communication skills and a passion for providing the highest quality of care. The Psychometrist will be responsible for conducting and interpreting psychological tests for clients and other clinical areas. To be successful in this role, applicants must have a Master’s degree in Psychology and have two years of experience as a Psychometrist. Candidates must also possess strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently.

Duties:

· Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals with a potential diagnosis of intellectual disabilities, autism, and other developmental disabilities.

· Gather school, medical records and relevant documentation to aid in the diagnostic process. Administer tests and assessments to evaluate cognitive, intellectual, behavioral, and adaptive functioning.

· Collaborate with DMH healthcare professionals to develop the final and complete assessments. Provide client care and support during testing procedures.

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical documentation.

· Stay informed about current research and best practices in the field of IDD and autism testing and diagnosis.

· Adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality.

Job Summary:

DMH is seeking a detail oriented and compassionate Psychometrist. As an evaluator, you will be responsible for conducting assessments and evaluations to determine the needs and capabilities of individuals with IDD, autism, and other developmental disabilities. Your role will involve working closely with clients, their families, and healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses and appropriate service options.

· Administration and scoring of psychological assessments

· Writes detailed observations of patient’s behavior

· Upkeep of testing materials

· Strong organizational and communication skills

· Close attention to detail

· Excellent writing skills

· Ability to build rapport and communicate with all ages

· Be accurate and able to calculate scores while testing

· Be compassionate, patient, and respectful with clients

· Work with a team

· Have a passion for mental health

Qualifications:

· Familiarity with working with individuals with IDD, autism, or other developmental disabilities.

· Excellent client assessment skills.

· Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.

· Compassion and empathy for individuals with special needs.

· Understanding of special education principles and practices.

· Candidates must also possess strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently.

· Must have Master’s degree in Psychology or a related field.

· Two years of experience as a Psychometrist.

Salary: $43.75 per hour

This is a contractual position with the Department of Mental Health. Contract personnel are not eligible to participate in the Public Employees’ Retirement System nor receive leave benefits as employees of the State of Mississippi.

Contract personnel may purchase the base plan of the State and School Employees’ Health Insurance Plan provided that such person pays the full price of such plan without contribution from the employer.

Hours: Flexible, 25 – 40 per week, Monday - Friday
