Overview

Job Summary

The Physician will oversee the clinical excellence of the interpreting physician team in addition to providing ongoing professional interpretive services. Physician will oversee and guide the remote clinical care that is provided through MPOWERHealth’s Interpreting Physician (IP) team including but not limited to the development and improvement of quality program, quality metrics, and ongoing training and education across the technical and professional sides of the business.

Responsibilities

INTERPRETING PHYSICIAN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide professional telemonitoring on basic and complex IONM cases including but not limited to cases with advanced modalities and complexities as assigned by company.
  • Participate in continuing education activities to maintain and expand company competency.
  • Log any pertinent data into the current EMR system.
  • May advise the operating physician on occasion.
  • Communicate with a healthcare professional regarding patient’s conditions and care.

MEDICAL DIRECTOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Support/Guidance

  • Provide clinical communication, leadership, and guidance to interpreting physician team to ensure optimal quality outcomes for our patients
  • Promote accountability and process improvement through medicaloversight
    • Manages internal program of peer-to-peer case reviews
    • Works with IP Ops Directorfor annual review of the IP Guidelines and other related documentation
  • Engages and resolves misalignment around interpretation between physicians and technologists
  • Develops and guides internal physician training on complex cases (brain, vascular, etc.)
  • Assists with assessment and recruiting of new interpreting physicians
  • Creates and/or promotes creation of new processes that promote improvements in our quality and processes

Clinical Education

  • Partner with clinical leadership as needed for IP-related issues and create sustainable solutions
  • Engage and teach in educational seminars with interpreting physicians and/or technologists
  • Partner with MCA presiding over the CAAHEP program
  • Provide direction and/or input on CAAHEP program structure and content
  • Participate in the education and training of IOM clinicians and ATs including a wide range of clinicians (technologists, etc) across a wide range of skills (from basic to advanced modalities)
  • Participate, generate ideas for, promote MPOWER’s involvement in neuroscience research activities and societies

 Other

  • Work with CCOO on neurologist-related initiatives (TelePT, EEG, IOM, etc.)
  • Work with CMO/CCOO on clinical excellence by identifying opportunities for improvement, creating a visionand strategy for next steps, and partnering with clinical leadership to execute.
  • Work as external partner/liason to client physicians.
  • Engages with external physicians and/or healthcare providers to educate on the efficacy and utilization of intraoperative neuromonitoring services
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • 5 Years of monitoring experience required.
  • Board Certified in clinical neurophysiology required.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience providing interpretations on complex procedures with complex modalities including but not limited to PR, Ecog, cortical and spinal mapping, DCMEP, VEP, H reflex, D wave, etc.

Skills/Specialized Knowledge

  • Competent in public speaking and peer education.
  • Knowledge of laws that regulates communication and privacy act. HIPAA laws and understanding of the application of all above.

  • Must maintain professional appearance.
  • Ability to be at work on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Some travel may be required.
