POSITION OVERVIEW

The Assistant Climbing Program Manager (CPM) is focused on teaching, supporting, and growing indoor gateway, private and adult climbing programs while fostering a culture of transformative experiences for both our program participants and our team members. This individual will report to the Climbing Program Manager and work closely with them to cultivate a team of skilled climbing instructors, create a program calendar that fits the needs of the community, and to support Movement’s mission and core values as they relate to climbing programs. The Assistant CPM is the ‘point person’ for programs when the CPM is not available, helping answer emails, handling customer and team member questions, and ensuring that our programming is delivered in a manner consistent with our mission and core values. As with all managers, they are expected to embody Movement’s mission and core values, as well as leading by example for their staff.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach the full breadth of gateway and adult instructional programs at Movement (as needed)
  • Craft and share vision to other instructors, team members, and customers about programming
  • Ensure excellent customer service and delivery of instruction
  • Support the climbing programs in their facility in partnership and with oversight of the Climbing Program Manager, including but not limited to:
    • Youth Programs and Camps
    • Group Programs & Events
    • Introductory, Intermediate, Advanced climbing series programs
    • Customer Clinics
    • Private coaching/instruction
  • Support management of one or more programmatic areas, with support from Climbing Program Manager.
  • Partner with Climbing Program Manager to strategize on gym's programming needs
  • Assist in creation of monthly program calendars with the goal of maximizing class enrollment and accessibility to our customer base
  • In partnership with the Climbing Program manager, support with new hire training and provide ongoing mentorship to cultivate a team of skilled and passionate instructors who foster Movement's mission and values
  • Support with monitoring and quality control of programs including responsibility to support performance reviews for key instruction positions
  • Hold accountability for actions, including safety and risk management procedures, ensuring they are upheld by guests and team members alike
  • Ensure that backend administration and organization of climbing programs is taken care of in a timely and effective way. This includes effective communication between instructors, gym leadership, and gym members; scheduling staff; tracking belay and other safety trainings; ordering supplies, etc.
  • Work with the Climbing Program Manager to help meet enrollment, revenue, and quality standards of all programs
  • Bring feedback, insight, experiences, and what you are noticing from the team member and guest experience to the Gym Leadership team
  • Assist with creating new curricula, instructor training tools, and other resources that will support continued growth of Movement programs as needed
  • Work with the Gym Director and/or Youth Team Manager to help meet financial and other metrics of success for the program and gym as a whole.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with instructors, program participants, and gym leadership.
  • Solid computer skills (web-based applications, Word, Excel, POS applications).
  • Ability to effectively balance a range of administrative tasks and deadlines
  • Experience with managing budgets or meeting financial targets preferred

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • This is a full-time position.
  • Starting pay at $21.00/hour, flexibility available based on experience.
  • Benefits include paid time off, health benefits, free membership, in-gym discounts, guest visits, potential 401(k) eligibility, and other benefits.
