The Trauma Program Registrar is responsible for collecting, abstracting and coding data for trauma patients and entering in the State Trauma Registry. The Trauma Registrar works both independently and in collaboration with the trauma program manager, trauma medical director, and other members of the health care team and the management staff. He/she ensures adherence to data management protocols set forth in order to maintain trauma status. Works with billing in regards to trauma coding and medical records. Work as EMS liaison, in gathering data for PI review and assisting in inventory of Emergency Preparedness Supplies and training drills. Assists with quality control activities, information requests, and quality improvement studies as requested. The Trauma Program Registrar is self-directed and self-motivating, plans and conducts work with minimal direction, and reports the progress of work to the Trauma Program Manager.

Education: |
Required: High School Diploma or GED |
Preferred: EMT, PCT, C.N.A, C.M.A |
Preferred: Worked in Medical Billing |
Experience |
Required: One (1) year of clinical / acute care experience. |
Preferred: Experience in trauma, emergency and/or critical care |
Preferred: Proficient in medical terminology, data entry and computer skills. |
Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Ability to accept and implement change. Ability to problem solving make decisions. |
Licenses/Certificates |
Required: |
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) - Due by close of business on the last day of the month after one (1) full month of work. • AAAM AIS Coding Course within 1 year of hire. (Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine Abbreviated Injury Scale). |
