TEMPORARY FULL-TIME DIDACTIC INSTRUCTOR - MOUNTAINLAND TECHNICAL COLLEGE

TEMPORARY FULL-TIME DIDACTIC INSTRUCTOR

Location: 2301 W. Ashton Blvd, Lehi, UT 84043

Status: Full - Time / Exempt

Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm

Pay / Salary: $31.20 / Hour

RESPONSIBILITIES

With a better idea of what you'd get from employment with us, you probably want to know what you'd be doing, and what we expect. Your responsibilities would include, but not be limited to:

  • Teach assigned course(s) as outlined in the curriculum to include theory and critical thinking based on evidence-based practice and current industry standards.
  • Coordinate with PN Senior Program Coordinator to resolve issues affecting student outcomes.
  • Follow the outlined process and line of authority when questions involving students arise; direct all questions to the Senior Program Coordinator before issuing consequences or warnings.
  • Develop lesson plans and learning objectives based on approved course outcomes and curriculum.
  • Place all syllabi, lesson plans, rubrics, assignment overviews, tests, course schedules, course content,
  • learning objectives and all other appropriate materials in the correct file in the shared nursing drive on a regular basis.
  • Investigate and adopt strategies that improve teaching by reviewing available teaching resources and recommending acquisition of appropriate materials.
  • Provide students with didactic and technical instruction in a safe environment.
  • Ensure students are provided with approved didactic hours as outlined in the PN Handbook.
  • Promote development of professional attitudes, knowledge, and behaviors among students by modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
  • Keep PN Senior Program Coordinator aware of issues, problems, or resources needed.
  • Maintain scheduled office hours and availability to students.
  • Meet with and counsel students when needed.
  • Work with students who are not making satisfactory progress to complete an Academic
  • Improvement Plan (AIP), following all appropriate MTECH and PN Program policies.
  • Maintain accountability and inventory of supplies in classrooms and office areas. Place supply orders as needed with the PN Senior Program Coordinator's approval.
  • Adhere to safety practices, the nursing code of ethics, the Utah Nurse Practice Act, and professional standards.
  • Model professional behavior in language, dress standards, physical appearance, attitude, and behavior.
  • Adhere to all MTECH faculty policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Participate on MTECH committee(s), as assigned.
  • Participate in faculty, departmental, and college-wide meetings and trainings.
  • Teach or assist in teaching clinical, lab, or simulation experiences related to assigned course(s) as needed.
  • Participate as a member of the Curriculum Committee to develop course and program curriculum.
  • Develop and analyze course exams while adhering to the PN Program Testing Policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse or APRN in the State of Utah is required.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and dedication to students is essential.
  • Basic computer literacy skills required.
  • Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited university or college required;
  • Master of Science in Nursing Education or nursing education experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years work experience as a Registered Nurse or APRN.
