Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Surgery Scheduler Supervisor to join our team!

JOB SUMMARY:

The Surgery Scheduling Supervisor oversees the day to day functions of the surgery scheduling department. They facilitate and demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors at all times in addition to scheduling surgical procedures for Mountain View Hospital.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for orientation, training, growth and development of staff in the Surgery Scheduling Department. Coordinates staffing schedules of employees to facilitate the needs of the department.
  2. Will work in conjunction with the OR Manager for any staff related issues regarding conduct and policies.
  3. Oversees and acts as resource support for employees involved in the Surgery Scheduling Department.
  4. Performs and maintains reporting of surgical schedule metrics.
  5. Is fully knowledgeable of policies and procedures specific to the Department of Surgical Services.
  6. Coordinates and schedules patients’ procedures/surgeries with physician offices.
  7. Interacts with patients, physicians and other staff at Mountain View Hospital and outside facilities; providing accurate, timely and responsive information.
  8. Ensures efficient telephone communication.
  9. Maintains accurate block time and surgery schedule information in the information system for Mountain View Hospital.
  10. Coordinates surgical equipment and operating rooms without conflict.
  11. Works as a team member within Mountain View Hospital.
  12. Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols.
  13. Coordinates and documents work processes as required.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Education/Certification: High School graduate or equivalent.

Experience: 5 years of experience as a surgery scheduler, 5 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Equipment/Technology: Basic typing and keyboarding skills. Familiar with multi-line phones, computers and other office equipment. Ability to learn hospital information system.

Language/Communication: Understands and can competently use medical terminology. Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and speak English.

Mental Capabilities: Ability to prioritize and multi-task efficiently and effectively. Must possess critical thinking skills that enable the scheduler to anticipate problems before they occur, and generate solutions for anticipated problems.

Interpersonal: Needs strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, managers and peers.

Performance: Strong organizational performance is required. Can act calmly and cooperative at all times. Is knowledgeable of contracted insurance plans and procedures. Requires compliance to all hospital policies and procedures including standards of confidentiality, safety, and conduct.
