Description

Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Endo Tech/Certified Nurse Assistant/Certified Medical Assistant/Certified Surgical Tech to join our team!

Job Summary:

Assists the physician with endoscopic procedures and related testing according to the doctor’s preferred routine. Performs endoscope reprocessing and troubleshooting; cleans, maintains and orders supplies and equipment. Admit/Recovery tasks as delegated. Facilitates and demonstrates cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors at all times.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Endoscopy Technician:

  1. Sets up Endoscopy Room according to surgeon preference.
    2. Assists physician and RN with endoscopic procedures.
    3. Assists with specimens according to policy.
    4. Applies the principles of aseptic technique and prescribed procedure room protocols
    to competently perform endoscopy technician functions.
    5. Performs required maintenance of instruments, supplies and equipment by adhering
    to cleaning, care, utilizations and sterilization procedures as directed.
    6. Notifies supervisor of any malfunction of equipment.
    7. Uses and maintains endoscope reprocessing units according to manufacturer’s
    recommendations. (Medivator /Custom Ultrasonics or Olympus).
    8. Ensures a clean & tidy work area throughout the endoscopy process.
    9. Restocks & inventories designated endoscopy room supplies.
    10. Orders supplies as necessary & maintains adequate level of inventory and
    demonstrates economic use of equipment and supplies.
    11. Responsible for putting incoming freight/supplies in designated storage areas.
    12. Is able to accept supervision and benefit from constructive criticism.
    13. Is responsible for complete and thorough performance of assigned tasks.
    14. Follow established rules, regulations and policies. Adheres to and practices MVH
    Compliance Program and participates in Performance Improvement activities.
    15. Demonstrates an awareness of safe conditions and safe acts as related to hospital employment.
    16. Awareness and demonstration of effective infection control practices.
    17. Exhibits cooperation, self-control & courtesy in co-workers relations & job related contacts.
    18. Complies with attendance & tardiness policies.
    19. Demonstrates respect for authority, discusses problems and follows chain of command.
    20. Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent patient care information to assure patients rights are protected.
    21. Demonstrates commitment to excellence in guest relations.
    22. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
    23. Maintains current BLS certification.

Qualifications


Education/Certification: Current nursing assistant certification or a degree/certification in medical assisting or scrub technician. Current BLS certification required.

Experience: Experience in endoscopy procedures including procedural assisting and disinfection/sterilization preferred.

Equipment/Technology: Basic computer knowledge. Operation of endoscopy scopes, equipment & endoscope reprocessing units
(scope washers).

Language/Communication: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.

Mathematical Skills: Basic

Mental Capabilities: Can frequently and consistently make sound judgments under time constraints.

Interpersonal: Ability to work well with others. 

Performance: Can work well under pressure.
