Description

Mountain Valley Child and Family Services (MVCFS)is a residential setting for youth.
We provide mental health treatment, social skills and special education for youth and teens, ages 10-21 on a 900 acre ranch in Nevada City and 3 small ranches Sacramento.

Come work with us to provide a clean and great home like setting for the youth to grow and learn. The ranch is an ideal environment for troubled youth to learn about themselves and deal with their behavioral and emotional challenges by exploring new interests such as tending gardens and caring for animals.

MVCFS is currently seeking a Kitchen Staff at our Nevada City location consisting of someone who is responsible for safe food handling, food preparation, and nutritional needs of the MVCFS youth. Clean kitchen, friendly food service, and important team member. We all come together over food. We have a large kitchen serving from 20-60 people daily.

COOK

Prepare and serve meals according to menus. Prepare and serve snacks. Ensure healthy, nutritionally sound and visually appealing meals provided to our youth living in our program setting.

Clean and tidy kitchen

Prepare shopping lists and oversee the purchase of all food items and kitchen supplies.

Ensure proper and safe storage of food and kitchen supplies per regulatory requirements.

Perform weekly inventory of food items and kitchen supplies.

Ensure inventory of perishable / nonperishable food items is maintained in accordance with applicable state and federal requirements.

Ensure clients have access to fruit, milk, and healthy snacks between meal periods.

Ensure alternate healthy meals are available to clients with special dietary needs.

Maintain kitchen, food storage areas, and food preparation areas in a manner consistent with the highest standards of cleanliness and orderliness.

Monitor kitchen physical plant to ensure compliance with Community Care Licensing, County Health, and Federal Food Programs.

Perform other cleaning and prepping duties as assigned.

Know and follow all MVCFS policies and procedures.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum high school diploma / general equivalency diploma, 18 years or older.

Ability to prioritize, multi-task, develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff.

Ability to follow MVCFS policies and procedures.

Maintain a professional appearance.

Experience in food preparation and food safety courses is a plus.

Knowledge of safe food handling procedures.

Valid California Driver’s License.

Will successfully complete a DOJ Criminal Background Check, Drug Screen, and provide DMV record.

Bi-lingual stipend available, Full-time

Compensation: $23.00/hour
