TITLE OF VACANCY: VR Program Tech

REPORTS TO: VR Program Coordinator

Nature of Work:

The VR Tech will report to the VR Program Coordinator. Responsibilities include but are not limited to facilitating components of “Seeing West Virginia Through a Different Lens”, a virtual reality career exploration initiative sponsored by the Appalachian Regional Commission. Service assignments will vary but may include the following WV Counties: Calhoun, Clay, Jackson, Mason, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane, Wirt, and Wood.

Key components of the role include:

• Providing a high quality virtual reality experience for participants within diverse settings including classrooms, special events such as career fairs and trade shows,
• Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of the virtual content and its value and optimal delivery to participants for career exploration and skills training
• Acting as a professional liaison between VR initiative and target groups (education, workforce partners, employers)
• Contributing to the development & implementation of special events and ongoing programming
• Utilizing data management tools to track individual progress towards positive outcomes of skill obtainment and job placement
• Issuing certificates to participants for completion
• Maintaining inventory and conduct maintenance of equipment
• Making referrals to partner agencies as appropriate
• Coordinating America Job Center Lab and mobile unit VR services

The individual employed in this position will be an employee of Mountain State

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Recruiting new participants for the VR program
• Maintaining schedule of events
• Coordinating outreach materials and ongoing communication with user groups and collaborators
• Conducting interviews and assessments with customers to identify needs, interests, and abilities
• Assisting participants with VR Career Simulator exploration
• Ensuring programmatic components are met to achieve DOL performance
• Adhering to DOL requirements to ensure no disallowed costs occur
• Submiting reports in accordance with funding requirements and oversight needs
• Participating in meetings with partners to review status of participant referrals, discuss best practices, and expand collaboration
• Maintaining and updates VR equipment and curriculum
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively interact with participants and partner agencies
• Driver’s License and reliable transportation
• Self-motivator, ability to work with minimum supervision
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Knowledge of computer programs; specifically, Microsoft Office Suite
