Mountain Shadows Outreach Services is an Adult Day Activities Program for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Program Assistant is responsible for assisting in the overall operations of the program. The Program Assistant ensures the delivery of quality programming services and activities to all Outreach participants.
Duties of the Program Assistant include but are not limited to:
Develops and implements participant schedules with guidance from Program Director.
Prepares daily staff and participant groupings.
Conducts site checks in the community.
Insures the quality of programming services through continual monitoring and evaluation.
Trains Direct Support Staff on procedures for implementing individual participant programs.
Provides direct supervision to Direct Support Staff.
Ensures all equipment and supplies are available for participant programming needs.
Recommends adjustments and/or changes to participant programs as appropriate.
Helps develops individual and group activities for participants.
Adjusts or changes activities as needed
Relieves Direct Support Staff and fills in for staff shortages when necessary.
Provides crisis management assistance to staff, when necessary.
Qualifications:
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to speak, read, write and understand English and communicate effectively in
verbal and written form.
Ability to provide staff training, supervision and scheduling.
Ability to use a computer.
Ability to prioritize and complete tasks with multiple interruptions.
Ability to manage staff and maintain employee morale.
Ability to train staff regarding abuse reporting requirements and how to complete
required forms (SOC 341).
Ability to lift 50 lbs independently.
Previous experience training, supervising and managing others is required.
One year previous experience working with people with intellectual disabilities is required;
Experience working with non-ambulatory and/or behaviorally challenged individuals
preferred.
Must possess valid California Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
This is a non-exempt position. Hours are Mon-Fri, 8:30a-3:30p. Wage range is $22.75-$23.75.
