    Required Qualifications:
    • Valid MN teaching license in elementary education for grades K-5.
    • Skilled at teaching others how to do something.
    • Skilled at talking to others to effectively convey information.
    • Skilled at learning strategies- using multiple approaches when learning or teaching new things.
    • Skilled at active listening- listening to what other people are saying and asking questions as appropriate.
    • Skilled in social perceptiveness—being aware of others’ reactions and understanding why they react the way they do.
    • Knowledge of instructional methods and training techniques including curriculum design principles, learning theory, group and individual teaching techniques, design of individual plans, and test design principles.
    • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
    • Knowledge of human behavior and performance, mental processes, psychological research methods, and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
    • Knowledge of numbers, their operations, and interrelationships including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
    Job Responsibilties:
    • Collaborate with regular education teacher to develop lesson plans for students and create additional lesson plans on own based on student needs.
    • Implement instructional objectives. Create, formulate, develop and implement instructional activities, assess comprehension level and records results.
    • In collaboration with regular education teacher, conduct individual or flexible small group instruction, tutoring and counseling based on lesson plans, instructional units or individual needs. Assess student performance to determine need for re-teaching using alternative methods. Creates a supportive learning environment by using appropriate verbal and non-verbal reinforcing techniques.
    • In collaboration with regular education teacher, conduct on-going evaluation of student abilities and health status to determine needs and to adapt appropriate response.
    • Diagnose, summarize and interpret student strengths, areas in need of improvement, or problems for reports to regular teacher, parents and other school personnel.
    • Respond to student needs including addressing personal/health concerns as presented or refer students to other professionals as appropriate. May present student and professional concerns to parents, staff or administration in collaboration with regular education teacher.
    • Monitor behaviors of students at risk and discusses expectations of appropriate behavior with student. Help determine and carry out behavior programs. Recommend ideas, identify problems and participate in problem solving discussions at meetings.
    • May supervise or provide work direction of paraprofessional employees.
    • Learning Resource Teachers may be reassigned to cover a teacher’s absence in emergency situations (as part of the Building Plan to cover absences when a substitute teacher is unavailable). Learning Resource Teachers who are reassigned will receive their hourly rate of pay for hours worked in excess of their normal work schedule.
    • Other duties as necessary or assigned.
