Mott MacDonald is seeking a Civil Engineer interested in working on large-scale public infrastructure projects in a dynamic work environment based in Los Angeles, California. The ideal candidate is a mid-level engineer who can lead designs with minimal oversight and train entry-level staff in civil engineering design. This position offers opportunities for a diverse career in the Transportation sector working on projects in Los Angeles and across North America with close networking connections to our Global network of engineers.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

• Lead the civil design (roadway, grading, drainage, and utilities) of multi-disciplinary transportation projects with minimal design support from senior engineer;
• Perform quantity take-offs for the development of cost estimates;
• Provide support to senior engineers for technical reports and specifications, quantity take-offs, estimates;
• Oversee work of entry-level staff;
• Work on projects of increasing difficulty, with work being reviewed by a senior supervisor(s);
• Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications;
• Compile and compute a variety of engineering data;
• Conduct site visits for the purposes of observing and documenting field conditions and observations;
• Gather and maintain specified records of engineering data such as tests, as-built drawings, etc.;
• Actively participate in meetings with Clients and Contractors;
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, as needed.

We are looking for engineers with the following characteristics:

• B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
• EIT required; Licensed California Professional Engineer, preferred
• Minimum 7 years' experience in civil engineering design, preferably roadway/highway.
• Experience with rail track and/or transit design is a plus.
• Experience in planning, conceptual, and preliminary engineering design phases. Final design and support during construction experience is a plus.
• Strong design experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D and proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with team members
• Methodical approach to problem solving and attention to detail in developing design plans and reports
• Perform tasks efficiently and independently
• Involvement with professional organization(s)
• Adaptable and flexible to working on multiple assignments and with different team members

Salary Range: $105,000 - $136,000
