MISSSEY, works to prevent girls and gender-expansive youth from ever entering circumstances of sexual exploitation and violence. Position Summary

MISSSEY is excited to continue expanding our Training Institute by adding members to our training pool. 

We are seeking dynamic and experienced Trainers to join our contract training pool. As a Trainer, you will be pivotal in delivering high-quality training sessions to our diverse clientele. This position offers flexibility and the opportunity to support new internal and external training and workshops related to the sex trafficking of minors, gender-based violence and the social and emotional development of Black girls and gender-expansive youth and other youth of color. This includes training for local, regional and national partners, community based organizations, government employees, youth, and some individual school partners and school districts.

The goals of this position include: 1) Delivery and facilitation of workshops to adults and vulnerable youth while providing a safe space for participants to reflect, discover, and co-create the knowledge necessary to prevent sexual exploitation and trafficking of youth before it begins; and, 2) providing youth and partners learning opportunities, support and tangible resources to prevent human trafficking and exploitation.

The ideal candidates for the MISSSEY Training Pool would:

  • Be highly skilled in youth and adult facilitation, positive youth development, crisis intervention, and social-emotional learning.
  • Be a continual learner deeply invested in women and girls.
  • Have solid experience working with Black girls and other youth of color who have experienced homelessness, gender-based violence, trafficking, and abuse
  • Be skilled at de-escalation, restorative practices, interpersonal relationship and resiliency building, and harm reduction theory and practice.
  • Have experience building relationships with schools and other community partners and coordinating activities that engage adults and youth. 

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

Facilitate Training Sessions: Independently deliver assigned training and workshops. Ensure that best practices in learning, change, and, positive youth development are used to deliver impactful training and services that reflect innovation and leading trends in practice with trafficked youth and those that have experienced sexual violence (emotional and psychological distress and substance abuse), trauma, strengths-based strategies emotional and psychological well-being and, integrated health.

Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in delivering training content to meet the needs of different learning styles and skill levels.

Content Development: Collaborate with the training team to develop and update training materials, including presentations, handouts, and activities, to ensure relevance and effectiveness.

Subject Matter Expertise: Maintain a thorough understanding of sex trafficking of minors, gender-based violence, trauma, multiple healing modalities, the intersections of race, gender age, sexual violence and disenfranchisement. And other subject matter being taught. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices. Trainers will participate in an initial, paid ($40/hrly) 40-hour training that will cover MISSSEY’s key trainings and approach.

Participant Engagement: Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages active participation, discussion, and knowledge sharing among participants. Facilitate connection to peer community, other community support, new networks of support. Make connections between MISSSEY direct services staff and youth. 

Feedback and Evaluation: Collect feedback from participants and stakeholders to evaluate training effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance training skills and stay current with instructional techniques and methodologies.

Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative tasks related to training logistics, such as scheduling sessions, organizing materials, communicating with clients, and tracking participant attendance and completion.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Experience: Previous experience in training, teaching, or facilitation, preferably in a school or other youth setting.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.

Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with youth and adult participants and colleagues.

Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in the subject matter being taught, with the ability to explain concepts clearly and concisely.

Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing priorities, schedules, and environments while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.

Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using technology and multimedia tools to enhance training delivery and engagement.

Physical Demands:

  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs
  • Requires computer use, ability to use a keyboard, cell phone, and audio-visual equipment
  • Must be able to stand for at least 60 minutes at a time

Required Licenses and Certificates:

  • Current driver's license, reliable vehicle, proof of liability insurance coverage, and a clean driving record required
  • A criminal background check, including fingerprint clearance
  • TB clearance
  • COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory.

Compensation: $75/hrly
